I was so excited to see this come up on your feed for review. I've been eying these Emo monos for about 6 months now and just waiting for somebody to review it. I'm sold. These will drive my maggies to hard! Benefits... Ease of weight, dedicated power supply, separation, but you also get to move the monos next to the speaker which always helps to get the amplification within a short cables distance to speaker.

You should try their flagship differential reference series amps. They are the only amps they sell that are acually fully balanced.

Love my Emotiva PT-100 preamp. I use it to control my Outlaw M2200 Monoblocks which are very very powerful and very clean and quiet and cheaper. Regardless I imagine the awesome PT-100 would be a great preamp for two of these!

No crosstalk in the amplifier stages. Left and Right. HC-1 is a fun amplifier to have. You need the power and size option card. The HC-1 is really cool. I think Emotiva is making cool Amplifiers. This is still reachable for many. Sensible monoblock money. For your monoblock OCD. But you have limited means. Start with 2 of these.

I’ve got a heresy LCR setup and was hoping you’d talk a little bit more about how these mono blocks worked with your heresys. Did the monoblock bring anything extra to the party or have any audible hissing with the Heresys? I’m guessing it’s overkill, but looks like it would be fun anyway.

Again, I really like that you review things like a real person. It is so refreshing. I would bet a large sum of money that literally nobody could tell the difference between these monoblocks and their XPA 2 amp in a blind test. Are these monoblocks better? Yes. Does it make an audible difference? No. Then why are the better? Because they are monoblocks. I would have preferred that they made them short and wide rather than half-full-size so you could rack mount them individually. I have an Emotiva XPA 2 Gen 2 amp. Would I like monoblocks? Yes. Could I hear a difference with my setup? No, so I just can't make my brain justify the extra $400 for the exact same w/ch. But still, it would be cool to have monoblocks. However, even if I was a zillionaire, I wouldn't buy more than 3 for LCR. They are so beyond overkill for surround channels it's just silly.

Why is it silly? Your monetary limits and your system aren't enough to justify why someone else “should not” buy monoblocks for all their speakers. There are too many available components and speaker options to give that comment validity. Had you not spoken in absolute terms, I would not have said anything.

your gonna have to get the s.m.d. amp dyno. uses giant resistors to meter the wattage. gives clipping, 1% thd, and burst mode power readings.

Hello Z! My uncle has bought the same pair of headphones 4 times in a row (since they brake) for the last 20 years and he buys them because they go loud and don't distort when he pumps them with prog rock on his hi-fi amplifier lol they are the Philips SBC HP 890's. My question is, have you ever tried them? (will you please try them because they have become like a legend in our family) and more importantly... do you have a recommendation for any headphones for me to buy for his birthday since he uses them every day and I want him to upgrade to something of your caliber and he means the world to me :) but like...under £300? When he sees a second hand pair of HP 890's on ebay his face lights up because he know it's the only pair of headphones that he wants bless him :) His philosophy is, if they don't have 50mm drivers then they don't go loud enough lol. I fucking LOVE your videos man and this would mean the world to me and my uncle! Thank you Z :)

I have not. If he has been buying them it must be used I don't think they are sold anymore. They look like ATH-AD1000x or similar but I can't verify the sound signature so I don't want to recommend something that he won't like. I will say the Sivga Phoenix amzn.to/2ZZQQtI is the most efficient headphone I have ever used and I love the way they feel/sound. If he wants loud that will get loud anything.

Been out of the home audiophile stuff for some time now, mid 80 to early 90's. Krell KSA 100 was what I had. How does Krell stand up nowadays?. They drove a pair of psb Straus was Haven.

This alone will help it scale with much higher end speakers than the Class D Crown 2502 won't be able to keep up from a hifi sound signature perspective. Maggie LRS / 1.7s would love them as would the Spatial Audio M3/M5 sapphires, Tektons, Salk, etc..

I have couple of the Crown 2502's. I can max the volume without pushing a signal to the amp... I only hear a slight hiss with my ear almost against the tweeter. Not enough that you could even hear in a dead silent room. I have had vintage audio equipment of pristine status that was on par with the Crowns. My speakers sensitivity are 98db SPL too. I have owned quite a bit of high end gear. The Crown's can hold their own. For the money, they can't be beat for power, efficiency and features. Not yet... The Crowns match very well with the Emotiva PT-100 (which has a decent DAC built in, or use of a different good DAC (Aune X8 Magic DAC, JDS Labs EL DAC II, The ES9038Q2M SABRE32 Reference DAC, AK4490 - AK4499 etc.) and also using tubes as a buffer, if you want a fuller bodied richer sound. I would use good quality JBL or Klipsch speakers at least. People can get Audiophile grade gear on the cheap these days!!! What can be had for $5,000 today, would have cost you $50,000 or more 20yrs ago. Think about it...

Pro audio and car audio reach their power claims completely differently than home audio. I had Krell monoblocks that only claimed 150 watts that weighed 200lbs each and had power requirements roughly double your crown amps . You are better off with lower power pushed by higher current to achieve better sound . Continually touting output As a measure to judge between Amplifiers is just silly

@@dungysphincter7974 Yea, but zeos was satisfied with the reults of hd250's after owning them for 10 years. Now he has over $7000 in headphones. Your perspective changes with experience, and what might seem "good" to you with no expereince, might turn out to be awful once you have something to compare against.

@@enjoshi-godrez8775 Zeos has most of his devices that was paid for with money given to him by patrons to help keep his business going, or from companies that donate their hardware for reviews. Some hardware is on loan and some are donated. If Z was to pay for things just for his own personal use...he would be down to 3-5 headsets at most. Since he does reviews for a living, he keeps the best and sells off the rest in his sales. A big part of having devices on hand, are for making reviews, comparisons to other similar devices or just for experimentation. He has to have content to make money. You know can't compare Zeos with other audiophiles. He has major obsessive compulsive tendencies and the only thing that keeps him grounded at times is his cat Chewbacca....Poor kitty! CHEERS!

Zeos, if YOU ever move I recommend the following process. 1. Compile a list of everyone you know who is capable of at least carrying a few boxes up/down stairs. 2. Ask them to come over so you can show them how much shit you own. 3. Using a ruler, draw a neat line through the names of people who shout 'Hell no !' and sprint towards the door. Those are neither your friends nor anyone you should ever ask to mind your cat while you're away. I predict that you will rapidly sort the wannabes from the steadfast people in your life ;)

Sounds about the same as any decent amp/speaker/receiver with decent DAC built-in to me: There's still issues. Just be happy with your $2500 receiver/speakers audiofolks. I really don't hear anything perfect just different. I'm fine with my Klipsch Yamaha; JBL Denon; Emotiva Elac systems. If you want to get a cheap stereo set, I think I'd go with the edifier s2000mkiii. Though I haven't heard them in person, they seem like the best bang for buck audio quality I've heard. They probably won't match the Klipsch or jbl in power or soundstage but the sound quality seems on point. I thought the edifier sounded better than the q audio 3030i with a $1000 amp.

I got sucked into the monoblock game with the Outlaw 2200's. Is there a noticeable difference then a single amp? Sorta? But I feels like my L/R/C has a lot more headroom when movies and the like get going. It may be just me convincing myself but I'm happy I made the switch. Emotiva, for what its worth, makes good products. Love the reviews Z

Please don't hate me Z but when you touch the amp insides like this it makes me cringe. You don't know how much energy the capacitors have stored and in most amps those are exposed. It is not OK to open a power amp right after you unplugged it and reach into it without discharging its capacitors first.

When the claimed watts (600watts) are more than the total watt output on the back of the unit (500watts), the watts are fake watts. No amp is 100% efficient, so even 500 watts would be a big stretch.

It’s a Class D amp! Class D sucks! Too Sterile and dry sounding. Class A / AB is the best sounding!

This is why I dressed up my Crown 2502's with machined aluminum face plates. They are not lookers. These would be lookers if the blue LED's weren't a thing or they added some PIZAZZ to it all.
