Curious what did that word use to me

@@yanks4602 In the past, "molested" could just mean "bother," essentially. Accosted, intercepted, harassed, badgered... something along those lines-- no touching (necessarily) involved! It still does mean that, technically, but most people are more familiar with the word as it relates to the sexual assault of children ~pulls out megaphone~ *which is why these Chinese channels should stop using it.* Edit: For example, "to bother" in Spanish is "molestar" and "molestare" could be used in Italian.

Same with “grooming”, “groomer” and “groomed” yet it’s still commonly used. Context definitely matters, and as a country that don’t really speak English, the word may not have the same negative connotation as it usually does in English speaking country.

@@lunasbix4338 I would say this example is a little different. Most English speakers will probably think of dog grooming, for instance, first if they read this word (although it will depend on context), whereas "molest" has only one common meaning in modern days.

@@IzzyKawaiichi this is accurate. Molest mostly triggers images of sexual child abuse when someone says it because that is the most common way the word is used now in every day conversations. Groomed, grooming and groomer gives me images of animals bathers, trimmers as well how nicely one looks, for example, "you need to groom yourself just so fod the job interview. " usually it's for big important jobs where suits are important. These are the more common usages and if one is going to write a one or two sentence description should only use the most common forms of a definition to avoid confusion.
