Will implement this in my Five Torches Deep campaign! I've been running DCC for a long time and love the Luck resource/mechanic, this will substitute in FTD 👍 are d6's to big of a die??? How about d3's?

This sounds like a cute idea but it sounds like it'd contribute to analysis paralysis too. Not only does the player have to worry about before the roll, but after as well.

What a fun idea, thank you for sharing. I want to say that it also interests me as a teacher or folklore and history this is actually a cultural concept in many folklore traditions that is called "unlucky for lucky." Again neat idea, thanks!

Sounds allot like Cortex Prime. You can get Tokens in Cortex Prime for rollin low, and use them later for things like re rolls. In my games, I don't allow the Luck feat, and only allow a player to have one inspiration dice at a time. I reward good roleplaying with inspiration dice though. That way it encourages my players to roleplay well. Since they can only carry one inspiration dice at a time, it isn't game breaking, but if you are good about rewarding players with inspiration dice for good roleplaying, they aren't afraid to use them either. So, it evens itself out. It's not the same as luck, but it works

Mythus, Dangerous Journeys has Joss. These are points to modify a roll, etc. They can be used for other players, against opponents, whatever. Yes, some people love and still play Mythus. ☺

Awesome. Just picked it up. Really like the idea. I will be going through it with my players to see if they want to add it into the game. I am thinking of maybe adjusting it so you only get a dice on a failed roll of 5 or less? But maybe your way is better.
@theDMsCraft
@theDMsCraft 3 жыл бұрын
Remember the die has a good chance of rolling a 1-2 so players will burn them up quickly. And If a player hordes their dice that is OK too as a player can end up doing something spectacular.

Every sesh in the group I play with everyone gets 3 tokens to reroll. Players can trade them for a 2:1 ratio in case a player needs it but is out of tokens. Paizo does something similar in their pf2e games on twitch but they use twitch's viewer points for to keep them stocked up rather than having just 3 per game night. Personally not a big fan of getting an easier game "just because". To me ttrpg always been more fun with an unforgiving but fair system and it's why we play with each player having 2 reserve characters with different play styles. This becomes handy when there is a problematic character as killing them off won't feel out of place and deaths/hardships are just part of life (like it was in the medieval times)
@theDMsCraft

Get your points but just seems like a more generous 5E "inspiration" system with the same problem of blowing your wad and then losing it. My system keeps the players engaged and those dice can go quick so it never becomes a problem for me and if someone wants to hoard dice for a big roll so be it because it is a blast for the player.(remember they are getting D6s not D20 rerolls). I just think it makes the game more fun for everybody and that's what really counts to me...One last note that as a GM/DM I have a million ways to complicate the heroes' lives that do not pertain to dice rolls.
@CreamAle
@CreamAle 3 жыл бұрын
@@theDMsCraft more of a cherish and spend wisely sort of thing. More often than not it rolls for worse so t the players just save em for super critical moments. Often times end days without even using the 3 rerolls. Don't think that I'm trying to poopoo on your setup, that was far from the point of my comment. Just saying what we do in our small group.
