I picked one of these up a couple months ago, it is my absolute favorite distortion pedal, I've been playing since 1983 and this is the best pedal I have ever used. I'm looking seriously at another couple pedals now by Empress Effects, this one blew me away
@masterchain333510 ай бұрын
Definitely thinking about getting one of these. I have the ParaEQ and love it - super powerful tone sculptor which works amazingly as a boost (my amp already has a great distortion channel but when I kick that thing on it takes it to the next level). I really like the build quality, the easy-to-press switches, they use. Really well thought out designs.

I have only two Empress pedals so far.......the incredible 'Echoe System' and now the 'Heavy'. i've seen the demos but was not prepared for the evil crushing heaviness that is the 'Heavy' pedal. I play Mesa Mark V to begin with....and this pedal transformed it into the Engle 'powerball' i was going to buy. thanks Empress.

At the moment, I am running a pedalboard with the Empress Heavy as my main distortor. I have one question, since I run a 2 cable connection at the moment (4 cable will follow soon). How do I connect this one the right way? Via Send or Returner? I use an ENGL Fireball 60. Could the Gentlemen at Empress shed some light? Here are some additional informations: Amp: ENGL Fireball 60 Pedals: Empress Heavy, Jampedal Ripply Fall for clean, Big Muff for Stoner, Worm for Machine Gun Sound, Delay + Tap Delay, ENGL Footswitch (connected behind the amp), and a Crybaby Wah. Guitars: PRS, ESP LTD and Gibson SG. Please, could some Pedalnerd help another one in Training? :)

Hi again Empress effects... I finally received my Empress Heavy and my Empress Vintage Modified Super Delay. But the problem is that the power supply input requirements for the pedals is 110-120V where as in India, the standard power supply is 240V. So my question is will it be a problem if I plug in the pedals through a standard Canada to India power converter, or an MXR Dunlop DC brick or a Trex Fuel tank or a Voodoo labs pedal Power 2??? Please help. Thanks Bonni.
@gaber7yo7 жыл бұрын
Bonni Darrell Abbott hey man! I use an Empress Reverb, in Bangalore, and it's not a problem. You can use pedals around the world, and as long as you use a proper power supply, it's all good.

I purchased this pedal and it's still for delivery. A friend of mine told me that it will sound better if it is put in the fx loop rather than the front of the amp. I was just wondering if any of you have an opinion about this coz I never tried putting a distortion of any kind in the loop. Probably it is per preference so I will try both when it arrives

I'm willing to spend the money for this pedal though I would like to know if anyone else has used this to play some Pantera live and studio settings. At the moment from guitar to amp I use my custom made Les Paul, DT Whammy, Tonnebone hot British distortion, ISP decimator, MXR 10 band eq, and to my JCM200 and 1960 B cab. I'd be switching out the tonebone with this pedal for my metal stuff. Anyone recommend this for getting that Dime tone or recommend another pedal for playing Pantera live and studio?

Empress,a bit off topic but there's no demo for it yet ,I noticed you have a new reverb pedal so I ask-can a preset be assigned to each of the 3 switches or can they only be used to scroll?Also,can the "output" attenuate more than -3db>My Strymon attenuate only -3db and it isn't enough for long trails on heavily wet signals-it gets WAY too loud so I'm in the market for another reverb pedal.
@empresseffects8 жыл бұрын
+bootlegapples Yes! Reverb can be configured to be bank-style presets instead of scrolling-style presets. You can bank up and bank down too. 7 different banks, 3 presets per bank, so 21 presets in total. Also, the output can be attenuated almost to mute with the output knob.

Yeah, it's decent. You can get a lot of different distortion variations out of it. I currently use an Orange solid state amp. It would probably pack more of a punch with a tube amp, but I sold my tube amps. BTW, this video doesn't really do the sounds justice.

How practicle would it be to throw this in the fx loop to use as a preamp for an alternate dirty channel?

I think the purpose is to make a two channel head in a pedal to go from hard rock to metal/sludge or Heavy=Rhythm Heavier=Lead

Wylen Blevins Yes! Bass sounds great through the Heavy. If you're finding that the bass sounds too thin, try turning up the Weight knob.

Is it an actual preamp, like the KSR Ceres?
@empresseffects2 жыл бұрын
. If you define a preamp pedal a pedal that can bring your signal up to line level and can go direct to replace the preamp of your amplifier then yes. Preamp has become kind of a marketing buzzword with an unclear definition imo so let us know if you have something different in mind than my definition

Expensive but way better than the big letdown if the bogner pedals especially the users gall which is not high gain at all. And the red that does not sound right for lead

I've had the Freidman OD Deluxe and the MXR 5150 pedal, they were able to give me good (better than anything else) SRV , Allman Bros tones in front of my tube amp on the clean channel. Can this pedal do that on it's lighter channel or is it to 'heavy' to start with? The issue is that I need both SRV and Classic Rock (crunch to metal) , and neither the Fried, nor 5150 could do anything remotely heavier than great overdrive.
