Ji chang wook should get an Oscar for the role of Emperor . Incredible acting ....most amazing good looking accomplished actor .

i don’t know why ppl get so confused with seungnyang’s feelings. if u analyze it more u will notice seungnyang was into tahwan at first. but the betrayal happened so it stopped. then wang yu came into the picture. their love for each other happened so fast like all of a sudden they’re in love w each other. that’s also why when wang yu proposed to her she was having second thoughts, remembered ta hwan and cried. that’s why she didn’t accept the proposal at first. what she felt for wang yu was more like admiration and infatuation. he was her hero and the king of goryeo. she looked up to him. he saved her. she did love him tho especially she was the father of her child. but u can see that her feelings for the emperor grew more strongly as time passes by. she was in denial at first and that she’s starting to feel afraid. and the moment she fell for the emperor, what she only felt for wang yu was care. and nah, she didn’t love wangyu till he died. she even said to ta hwan that someday he will know her feelings. u can do the things she did but that doesn’t mean u still love them. and that’s also why she’s more concerned about tahwan’s feelings when he killed wang yu. that’s also why she was so afraid that he will leave her or be done with her. seungnyang/ empress ki even said it herself. “and i love you. i truly.. truly.. love you. i love you.” as she cries her heart out. that’s what she wanted to tell him. she said someday he will know her feelings. she’s just stubborn and prideful to be true to her feelings. she even planned to say it till they’re old and gray. now it’s too late. whenever she’s with wang yu, she’s so formal. but whenever she’s with tahwan she can be herself. she can be silly, playful, she can joke around, she smiles a lot, she laughs a lot at the final scene, it showed the scene where she chooses tahwan over wang yu then rode the horse together with him. it can be interpreted in many ways like even though the path that she will take with ta hwan is rough and painful, she will always choose ta hwan. even though the emperor’s was dark, has a lot of issues with himself, has his inner monster, messy life, very troublesome, despite of all the despties, she still loved him. she understands him. she accept everything about him. she never left him and even fought everyone so that their she, ayu and ta hwan will have a good life together. wang yu may be her first love but ta hwan is her greatest love. their love for each other is deep. seungnyang, especially ta hwan are both complex characters. their love for each other are complex too. wang yu’s character was easy to love. perfect, no flaws, no problem, no weaknesses, like a hero. he’s like a mary sue. maybe because like they said the writers (korean ofc) are biased because wang yu is a korean.

I think there will never be another kdrama like Empress Ki . After so many years it still has the ability to enthrall and mesmerise .❤❤❤❤❤

aghhh this wonderful edited video brings me back so much feels, If Nyang had been more loving towards the emperor rather than being secretive on who she loves he would have not gone that insane...Ji chang Wook was a beast in portraying such complex character!

То что он выжил уже чудо!! Очень тяжелая дорама!! Даже отрицательных героев понять можно!! То что крови и смертей много это понятно..в китае корее,японии жизнь ценили мало .да и вообще на востоке ее и сейчас мало ценят! Народа много!!😢

This made me teary again. The cast were all perfect. Ji Chang Wook is an incredible actor, his character's growth was so engaging. You feel sorry for him, then hate him, then mock him, then root for him, then wish his suffering would end. Twas an emotional rollercoaster for me, especially as you cant tell what his drunkenness/hysteria will make him do next. This remains my favourite historical drama of all time. Absolutely Brilliant!

I love that they went through so much ups & downs, but throughout it all they were so passionate and consistently loved & cared for each other. Beautiful video, you captured all their best and worst moments perfectly. I'm rewatching the show for the second time and skipping all wang yu parts loll. i feel so bad for the emperor all over again. From beginning to end, the only thing he really wanted was Yang, he didn't even want to be emperor. i think she completely opened up herself to love him from when they went on their hunting trip, when he told her 'i want you'. I guess her heart was racing and she interpreted it as fear, because she tells commander park 'suddenly, i am afriad'. tbh falling in love is scary though because you give the other person so much power over you. prior to that moment she always liked ta hwan, even from when they were at goryeo, but then he caused her father to die and she completely closed herself to him, but even with that you can tell she still cared about him.and Ta Hwan is the only person she ever tells 'I love you' to in the whole show, I wish he knew that right from time. his insecurities about wang yu drove him to alcoholism and then drove him mad. it was very sad to watch.

I am from South Africa and only speak English. I watched the entire 51 episodes and here are my thoughts: I apologise I cannot remember the names, it is VERY difficult for me because of strange names and places (subtitles were very good). So I hope you understand: -The Empress Ki is an amazing actress; I loved the initial part when she pretended to be a man and was very strong and very skilled and walked with a confident no-nonsense walk - fearless -then she was discovered to be a girl and she went through many transformations from timid, head bowed and slowly regained her fierce determination and strength -I am very impressed with King Wu (or is it Wang?) - he looks very dignified, strong and is a leader of Goryeo; I am amazed at the beautiful loyalty and friendship of his 4 loyal friends, each with their own skill (especially the Eunuch) - a beautiful and wonderful camaraderie - we all need friends like that -The Emperor is absolutely amazing; his transformation throughout the 51 episodes has been terrific -The Queen Dowager is very regal, very cunning and a very strong woman and very impressive -the costumes are very colourful, luxurious and exotic -all the décor, furniture and ambiance, has brought a very realistic look and feel to this Epic Historical Drama filled with romance, betrayal, tragedy, greed, poverty, slavery, struggle for power and the human element Well done to the actors, directors, producers and the whole team. I am sure they thoroughly enjoyed watching this series. I love K-Dramas because there is NO swearing or open frontal nudity or bad morals - Korean people are very humble and kind Warmest regards from South Africa
