Beautiful house Jen, the upstairs Bathroom would have originally been the third bedroom before the addition of the attic room. This is a typical layout for a Victorian terrace in the Medway area. My first house in Gillingham in the 80's was identical (Minus the attic room) to this. Welcome to Kent,Rochester is a wonderful historic town and a short commute back to London. Kent is a wonderful place to live with so much history and beautiful countryside to explore, I am sure you wont regret the move. Hope your happy in your new home.

Nice and compact, less room to heat. My first home I bought was a Victorian redbrick three up, three down terrace in inner city Nottingham. Nice garden. Near the river, work and good parks.

Thank you for showing us around! Looks great, wooden floor, fireplace and even a conservatory and the big bedroom roof window! Maybe the upcoming tasks look like a burden of extra work now, but it's also plenty of space and possibilities to express your creativity in painting, renovating and also furnishing, which will make your house even more your house.

Congratulations! Lovely video of the tour. I also enjoyed the road trip footage to give a sense of the area. You previously mentioned a co-owner, so I deduce that the other owner is a spouse as opposed to a flatmate, as none of the other bedrooms were for a housemate 😉. Buying our home was a huge project with my wife and a tremendous source of pride for us both. I wish you a lovely time in your own four walls.

Love the channel. Keep up the good work. Rochester is a great place. Have you seen the little sweet shop yet? The Sweeps Festival is really good fun but I think you missed it this year. It's in May, I think. I grew up in south east London, near Crystal Palace. Kent is mostly nice (Except Gravesend).

Such a cute place, that top bedroom looks ace. So strange seeing the drive through kent, "Oh that's the A2.. oh that's xxx".. Protip, if you need to do any chasing or want new outlets adding do it now. It's such a pain when you've got furniture in, dust goes everywhere
@Camberwell86
@Camberwell86 4 жыл бұрын
Brick dust is merciless innit. People don't take you literally when you say "everywhere". I've chased out cable runs in a room during a refit and it's found its way up through the light fitting holes and left an orange coating of shit on everything in the room upstairs before. Customer was fuming. Stuff like the white textile blinds had to go straight in the bin. We tried telling them! (._.)

If the loft conversion was the 70’s might think about having the insulation checked out, likely to minimal if any at all, the bathroom could have been worse, when we moved in to our current house the bathroom was the original 70’s BRIGHT yellow, next door had BRIGHT blue, Your house looks to be of good condition, still see a lot of work ahead, make sure the basics are OK first, structural, electrics, plumbing, nothing worse than finishing a room to find all the floorboards have to be taken up

Congrats on the purchase!! What a great home and garden area!!! I'd first renovate the room you eventually want to be "your" bedroom (while you temporarily sleep in another) and then move into it when it's done. That way, you'll always retreat back to a finished bedroom for the night during the rest of the renno. Makes for more restful night!! Also, please get some smoke detectors. I didn't see one detector in that house. Got to keep you safe!! Enjoy the move-in and that bottle of bubbly! (Very classy move on their part by the by) Can't wait to see the updates! You could start a whole new "rebuild" channel! haha!

Can't wait to see what you do with the house! I hope it serves you well for a long time, seems like a great family house as well. And that bathroom as horrible, but super big. It's a bit odd that it's the only bathroom in the house though, and only accesibble from another room. Sucks that there's no space for another bathroom, but I imagine you won't really need it.

Hi Jen, It was lovely to see around your new house. If I may suggest what I would do, firstly I would put the washing machine in the kitchen, and not worry about a dishwasher, they're not essential. I would perhaps replace the bath and have some fresh grouting done, but I would concentrate mainly on the neglected areas foe example the cellar, and have the garden resurfaced, with new fencing. I would paint inside the cupboards, so they smell fresh and clean. I wouldn't change the colour of existing paint,as it looks quite neutral. In the future I would look to reducing the size of the bathroom and then refurbish completely. Hope some of my ideas are helpful. 😊

Typical Victorian 2 up 2 down terrace, at least you have an upstairs bathroom, part of the second bedroom taken for it, most have it downstairs on the end of the kitchen extension, originally only 2 rooms downstairs one doubled as kitchen, living room the other was the front parlour only used on Sunday and when visitors called, the 'best' room. Shame a lot of the original features such as cornices, picture rails and ceiling roses have been removed, they were vandals back in the 60's and 70's at least the dado or chair rails remain but look like replacements as not deep enough to protect walls from chair backs. That house may have had a family of 10 or twelve living in it, 7 or 8 kids sharing one bed!

What a beautiful house - congratulations! I love the period features, the fireplaces and the wooden floors. My husband and I actually looked at a house very similar to this one a few weeks ago. The downstairs wasn't as spacious though. Did you find house hunting in the UK as frustrating as I do? I often get annoyed that the only thing that seems to matter is the number of bedrooms. We are looking at 2-3 bedrooms but ultimately I don't care - I just want a certain amount of floorspace. If the downstairs is big enough (like yours, with a sitting room, a dining room and a study or conservatory) I don't need more than 2 bedrooms. I was really surprised to find that plenty of estate agents won't be able to tell you how big a house is, even if you're looking to buy it. In Germany I would go by square meters and number of rooms which makes much more sense to me. Sorry about that, rant over :P
@terminalfrost3645
@terminalfrost3645 5 жыл бұрын
people are interested in in rooms in the UK worrying about family usually, personally I don't care about rooms, like you I just like spacious, I think people here in the UK don't worry too much about space because space is hard as fuck to find unless you have the money to buy an expensive big house. This house to me seem rather claustrophobic lol.
@pippilottaviktualia4807
@pippilottaviktualia4807 5 жыл бұрын
@@terminalfrost3645 I just find it peculiar. Some places have a lounge, a dining room, a kitchen an a conservatory downstairs (like this one). Others only come with a lounge and a tiny kitchen. It makes such a big difference yet the only thing that matters is the number of bedrooms. 🤷🏻‍♀️

An Mei i know yea, maybe its about everyone having their own room lol. Tbf if i wanted a house and with a number of people i’d like my own room, maybe its because I don’t want kids space is more important lol
