Surfing was banned at Nazare, only recently reopened but with certain caveats. During that down time, Helio Antonio captured some of the unridden glory out at the 'biggest wave in the world', especially as Storm Dora ripped to shore.

I understand your point about why not more likes? It is a beautiful, beautifully artistic video and inspires me to one day go there when its not surfing season but you know what? I entirely want to watch the waves at their own speed. It is very important to me! But seriously, after watching this I intend to go there and hang our for awhile. Its such a blessing to see the waves without worrying about the surfers!!!

When someone asks: - "Why the Europeans never sailed to the New World, before the end of the15th century?" - You answer: - Go to Nazare look to what the Ocean really is and why would someone risk everything, just to cross it to the unknown?

Imagine what our Portuguese sailors had to put up with sailing around the world and especially the fisherman of Nazaré, what they dealt with day in and out to put food on our tables! Portuguese have balls of steel, and so do these surfers that attempt Nazaré...

The Sea I come because I must, here by the sea To be forgetting everything that's me As I have known myself, as I am known. The flesh upon this sun-warmed, sea-struck stone Recalls within each swift-awakened cell The rhythm of the ocean's endless swell The great heartbeat of elemental seas| That was the pulse-throb, eons ago, of me. And, as I leave the body here to heal, My other self may then be free to steal Swift to it's source in universal mind So, my two selves divide, that each may find The healing peace that comes when battling seas Subside -- a holy time -- till spirit flees It's shining source again, returning then To live content, as one, with flesh and men. -- Irma Warrington
