It’s funny how Fedorov’s number 91 is retired without actually officially being retired. It’s not in the rafters but the people in the organization know not to let anyone else wear it.

I agree with the OP. Yes, the way he left was terrible, and I don't blame fans who booed him when he showed up with a different team (Anaheim or later Columbus). As long as he played with a different team and attempted to score goals against us, the way he left was a real sore point. But that's all in the past now, and largely moot now that he is retired as a player. What he did in the few games against us isn't worth mentioning when compared to the goals he scored and all of the highlight reels he filled when he was a Red Wing. Since his retirement, he has consistently gotten great receptions from Detroit fans whenever he shows up here.

When we watched the Russians play in the 70s, we just stared with our mouths open. They changed the game and were awesome. Still remember Kruchov (?) doing the 1st spin move on the Canadians. Back then it was mind blowing. It all made 1980 a miracle, the best sporting event EVER to this day.

91 not being in the rafters at Lca is the one thing i will ever complain about with the ilitch family . Those people are why i got the chnace to play hockey and got to meet many of my heros growing up . Feds was probably my third favorite Wing all time . Now i dint count gordie ... To me hes above lists hes just amongst the gods . Stevie is my favorite.. grew up with him as the Captain and to me hes always the captain and always will be . Then theres Nick ... If im honest and think about it hes incredibly close to number 1 but i also think Nick would say to not even think of taking him over Stevie But Feds ... God when i first watched him in his first game and all the way through his time in Detroit Man he was just such a Horse . Datsyuk was magical and you best believe hes high on my list but even him with all his magic couldn't compare to Feds .. the guy was just about the perfect player . Older me understood that he wasn't always giving it all out there... But listen as good as he was it would almost have been unfair for him to give it all every single game . To this day i still say ive yet to see a more over all talented player in all aspects of the game outside of goal in the going on 40 years i been around the game

@@tomdiets5079 We also thought that Ray Borque would never be traded, as he wanted to be a forever Bruin, until (at about the same point in his career) he suddenly requested a trade to a contender in a (successful) attempt to win a Stanley Cup before he retired. I am not necessarily predicting that Ovi will do the same thing, I am just saying that you never know.
