Beautiful birds! Unfortunately they are in huge decline across Australia. I rescued a couple of week old chicks from a failed Emu farm. Funny little buggers

I watch the video and laugh at the funny birds. I look down and it says, "9 years ago." "Wow," I say, "Hey Google, how long does an Emu live." - Not looking forward to the answer. "9 years in the wild, up to 20 years." So, I hope all is well, and that 20 years is a low estimate. God bless you.

Theres one pet one here in Australia and he's 60 ,(he's on 60 minutes Australia) they can live 50 years . I had 2 and they are very tough creatures . They are like big reptiles with feathers . They can take the heat and the snow and are extremely resilient .

Not all emu's are friendly... I visited many farms and came apon these ones that needed rescuing.
@chilltank10523 жыл бұрын
Only way do stop this fear is go to a farm/zoo that has them get a plant thats comestibile for them like Alfalfa or Cabbage and handfeed them and suck up the fear if they bite you accidently dont worry it dosent hurt as much as ostriches this is exactly how i made myself friend with my female ostriches

Is this what male emus do to attract mates? If so, I suddenly feel a lot less self-conscious about my attempts at flirting.

Hi could you tell me how to identify a male from female as I have two I’m the man walking an emu which went viral regards bill
@suzanneaubin85845 жыл бұрын
Usually the female is smaller than the male. the female does a drum sound and the male grunts. Hope this helps.

Whats the point of an emu? Theyre not big enough to ride, not much is scared of them,, theyre basically defenseless, they have very little meat on them, they stink, usually mean to people and all other animals.. at least the ostrich can defend itself and is smarter plus theyre bigger and stuff., the emu is like an ostrich with a turkey mixed together..

They can go outside but there is 4' of snow, I live in Hearst Ontario and it's minus 40 Celsius in winter. they have the run of the stable everyday and are very comfortable.. Not cooped up, compare to where they were...

Rather irresponsible to allow a dog to be so close to birds, especially chickens.
