I know this is a late message but I'm hoping that you reply. Was it easy to setup? How are the games that use a mouse like Lemmings and Goblins etc? Have you had any issues and can you save state?
@user-oh8jw4mj4y
@user-oh8jw4mj4y 2 жыл бұрын
@@papa_sloth_gaming547 it was actually very easy to setup, you just have to have a USB mini cable so that you can connect the psp to a pc. (that's because you need to move some files over) You're also gonna need a 2 gb memory stick if you actually want to play a variety of games (but 64 mb cards work too for the setup. Now, you can pick which model to get of the psp, and I'm telling you this because you wanted to know if you can save state, anyways the models that can save state on pretty much all psp games are the 2000 and 3000, but you can still save state on the 1000, only on emulators. But, you have to consider, the 1000 is in terms of the quality, a way more premium device than the other 2 models, what I mean by that and this is only an opinion, so you don't really have to listen to me on this one, but the 1000 is more heavier and bulkier, it has a matte finish on the back and a better mechanism to open the UMD door. Now that we got that out of the way, I haven't played any mouse games on the psp, so I don't know how they play, sorry, about the if I had any issues, welĺ, it was always my fault, when some wired crap happend, but you still need to be careful with the psp, always watch tutorials, don't do anything your own, and make sure to update to the latest frimware before installing custom frimware (6.61)

The reason MVSPSP wasn't working for you is that it doesn't turn roms into a readable format, it instead creates a cache based on each rom. This cache needs to be put in the cache folder of the actual emulator and have the rom in the roms folder. The neogeo bios is also required.

Actually, the GBA was not capable of the SNES's Mode 7, but instead had a superior version, accessed by using graphics mode 2 of 5, for scaling and whatnot. Just thought I'd let ya know. This is due to the GBA using a 32-bit RISC CPU and not having the exact same architecture (far from it, honestly) as the SNES, and so it had to be built from scratch. However, this allowed for more varied use and more features.

They're very similar modes but with detail differences and of course the mode numbering is different.
@beezle1976
@beezle1976 5 жыл бұрын
This is very wrong. Yes, it had no "mode 7", but this is a good thing. Instead is has proper scaling hardware rather than the cheap/nasty hack "mode 7" used. With GBA you have much greater degrees of precision and flexibility, plus you can have scaling and rotating on multiple playfields (unlike the snes which is restricted to one). The fact its using an ARM cpu, regardless of bus width is also completely irrelevant when it comes to what can be done with graphics hardware (other than the influence a faster cpu has when you're software rendering), but even without a much, much faster cpu the gba gfx hardware is more capable than that of the SNES.

This is a damn indepth video. Two things to add : As a caveat about using a PS Vita for use with PS1/PSP emulation. Adrenalin is not a 100% accurate PSP enulator on the Vita (I think this is because not all of the PSP hardware is on the Vita, so it has to be emulated) . For example, certain PS1 games/eboots would actually run slower than on a real PSP. I am not sure about using PSP based emulators on the PS Vita. Secondly Retroarch is kinda like MAME in a sense that it almost has no optimization for the console it is being compiled to. So it is expected to be slower than emulators with optimizations to a specific hardware. I see that the work required for this video would be insane. Congrats on getting this done. =)

I'm pretty sure the Commodore emulator is pronounced "Vicky" and that's because both the VIC-20 and the 64 had chips in them called the VIC and the VIC-2 respectively. Both chips are related to sound and graphics processing, and are large parts of what made both of those computers so great for gaming back in the day. Thanks for the entertaining video!

About ps1 emulation. Not every game is working, and some of them don't have music if it's in another format (don't remember the name, but usually it's high quality music). The actual reason why the SNES Emulator for the PSP has the low battery warning is because the Savegames of the PSP are stored to the Memory-Card and storing data to the Memory-Card requires a certain voltage stability which a drained battery can't guarantee. 95% of the time everything will work great but there can always be a failure which can corrupt data already stored. (And I think there was an option to enable savestates and stuff even after the low battery warning)

"promptly deleted" well you can't be too safe on KZfaq. Mostly I would assume romsets are stored on a hard drive for easy access when needed. Can't blame you for this disclaimer though as again, you can't be too careful.

Woah. Sick intro! I'm lucky to have a hackable Vita 2000. It has excellent near perfect PSP compatibility, might even be hardware compatibility. It's great because it's kind of like running BC games on an Xbox One. That is that you get a little bit of processing headroom. PSP games with an uncapped framerate like Battlefront II run near 60FPS, and the Vita is factory underclocked. You can easily (and 100% safely) boost it to factory clocks and get some seriously performance gains in any PSP executables. I'd imagine it'd work great for some of the more demanding of emulators.

55:30 - To explain your MAME conundrum; different Mame versions rely on different romsets. Usually one version to another only has a few small changes, but when you're jumping from something like Mame32 to Mame4All PSP, you're gonna have some very drastic changes. The sad part is, most romsites only carry the most recent version, or some other random one if they haven't been updated in a while, so it can be very hard to find what specific version that your PSP emulator is looking for. (Which is 0.34 or 0.36, I think) I think certain distros of it came with a tool to "fix" roms to the more recent romset, but I've never gotten those to work. Good luck!
@FrameRater
@FrameRater 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the information. Why can't someone just make a MAME that supports all romsets? That can't be too hard can it?
@SmaMan
@SmaMan 5 жыл бұрын
@@FrameRater That kinda goes against the design philosophy of MAME in the first place. Their mission is to make the most accurate arcade emulator possible, and when they discover a way to make certain games more accurate, that's usually when they change them in the next romset. That's why other emulators like FBA and the couple of CPS/NeoGeo ones you showed here are a lot more forgiving on the roms you supplied. (And a lot faster, since accuracy isn't the primary goal.) Then again, MAME is open-source, so other than it sounds like a massive undertaking (there are over a hundred MAME romset variants now) someone could possibly do it, I guess.
@FrameRater
@FrameRater 5 жыл бұрын
@@SmaMan I really do think someone should make an alternative, like a REAL "Mame4All" or something. An individual emulator built from the ground up simply to run any game that's thrown at it, "perfect" or not. Some of us just want to play the games without the hassle.

I agree on MAME being weird and it's not talked enough. It requires unnecessary files and sometimes old versions works better. They don't care about enhancements either. That's why I use ZiNc (discontinued since 2005) over MAME for Playstation based arcade hardwares and hoping for a Sega ST-V emulator just for Tecmo World Cup 98.

The issue with mame is that they are in the quest of making the games emulation 100% accurate, they don't care about playability So the old version of mame32 uses what is referred to as "hacks" that is when they assume how a piece of the machine works and they just simulate the behavior directly but newer versions constantly remove such hacks and replace them with accurate emulation of the chip that did the behavior, so old roms need to add the missing binaries Also, the reason PAL and NTSC games have different compatibilities is because they run slightly different code

Using joysticks on ZX Spectrum and Amstrad/Schneider CPC. They are mapped to keyboard number row on Sinclair Interface II and CPC. Arrow keys where present on the keyboards are also mapped to Shift+ number keys 5-8. Games frequently also use joystick port 2 for player 1. :D It's a coin toss whether any given Spectrum game uses the above or a dedicated Kempston Interface. So there's a total of 4 control methods that you may need to try.
