Fantastic interview by an amazing person. I'm a massive fan of ben and all his work and as someone who's has mental health issues it's so refreshing to see someone who understands even when he's not faced them to the same level as others but he's still willing to talk about it and end this silence of people not talking about the very real problems that people can face

As the daughter of someone suffering with schizophrenia, It is so refreshing to see an actor who is knowledgeable on the subject of mental health and able to relate it to things outside of his own experience. Growing up with mental health experts has done wonders for this man. He appears to have developed excellent tools for navigating his own mental landscape and he is able to empathise with people who are struggling. I can see why he became an actor as it's all about exploring the nuances of the human psyche. I also respect that he didn't feel the need to delve into his personal struggles in a public interview, he maintained that emotional boundary because it's important to him to reserve those types of discussions for his trusted friends. I like that he was calm and assertive in laying out that boundary too.

Wonderful interview! As a nurse with bipolar, anxiety disorder, and OCD, mental health is very important to me. It’s so refreshing to see celebrities using their platform to discuss the importance of staying mentally and emotionally healthy, and encouraging discussion about it. Open, honest conversation is the only way to end the stigma so that more people feel free to reach out for help.

Thank you to Polar Lights Awareness for this wonderful interview with Ben - very refreshing to see someone who is not only an accomplished actor/singer but also a grounded, authentic and compassionate human being - definitely a personal role model! Really nicely-put and succinct explanation of how mindfulness practice can improve mental health by helping us to be "better equipped to negotiate difficult mental states as they attack us." As someone w/ loved ones w/ serious mental illness, can relate to being a bit uncomfortable when words like "crazy," "paranoid" or "depressed" are casually used but understand that no harm is meant. Keep up the great and important work!

I love this interview. After the past few years of isolation covid has caused I feel we all need to talk about mental illness, depression and anxiety. I myself have not struggled with mental illness, but I have witnessed someone so close to me suffering from it when I was young and it is so heartbreaking not being able to help them. I don’t know if I can keep writing about this without full on ugly crying so I’m just going to finish by saying,I love Ben Barnes as an actor and after seeing him talk so opening about mental health I see how amazing he is as a person in Reality.

Thank you for this lovely interview! This is exactly the way that the organizer of my own mindfulness meditation group at the UVA nursing school--a group run by health professionals for the wider university community (but especially for other health professionals)--expresses what mindfulness meditation does for you: it's a form of gentle exercise for your brain to help it better integrate and assess your emotional and mental state from a distance and then step back better prepared to respond in a way you choose. It won't solve your problems but over time and with practice it makes them easier to confront and negotiate. I've stepped back from it myself because sometimes "being in the present moment" when you're experiencing depression is the opposite of where you want to be--which is why I watch Ben Barnes videos! But you can always nudge your way back into practice and begin again. Thank you again.

Now here is someone who actually has the creds to talk about mental health seeing as he was raised by mental health experts. Other famous people don't have his background. I wonder why he hasn't taken this up as his cause?

I did DBT for like 4 years and I despised mindfulness. Now I’m “better” I use it without realising what I’m actually using. Then in like “😱Them 4 years of torture actually worked!” 😆
