1dbad That was retconed out of the show dude. They had new writers after the Dark Signer arc ended. They wrote the romantic sub-plot out of the show like it never happened. Especially since Jack ignores Carly like she is an annoyance. It’s canonically one-sided. Plus Carly lost her memory of being a Dark Signer. And of that moment. And in the time skip, Jack is seen still in his dueling career and he never seems to care about Carly. In fact Carly and 2 ofher girls were trying to win him over and he just brushes them off durig the last episode. And they never got together.

Just getting through 5ds and even though Carly's role in story was smaller she still have a good amount of time with jack and even small scenes show he still likes her most

@Omega Zero zone was ok overall since he wanted to be a symbol to the people and that was still sorta cult like turning yusie into a symbol of hope for the dark world they live in. Carly sucks for her but rewatching the series she isn't at the level of the blue girl and maid as jack still overall spends more time with her in the filler episodes so it wasn't that bad aside losing the romance overall.

@@oofwio I love Yu gi oh. 5ds is the best Yu-Gi-Oh series made as the artstyle is timeless with all the series until sevens looking the same as 5ds but not having as good a cast as it as a whole. I care more for the filler characters in 5ds than the other series. Also funny enough I am watching 5ds again as you are commenting this. Wow it's still a lot of fun but I'm skipping a few things as I've seen them so many times I could read the episode by heart.

Oh gosh! She's fully voiced and their still not releasing her? Why must they hurt my soul like this! Why?! D: Carly, regardless if she's her adorably dorky reporter self or her Dark Signer self, is still my favorite 5Ds character ever. I just love her, I will always love her. Actually, I could say she's my most favorite Yugioh character. Veronica Taylor's voice for her is just, gosh! I love it!

@@HaouRex Because it's how I feel. I love her EG voice, it's fitting for her. But if you compare the two JP voices, Li-Mei is my pick, because I loved her voice for Carly, especially during the whole DS arc, which featured Carly in a lot of my favorite scenes. If your saying, ENG voice and Carly's second JP voice are similar, I can kinda of hear that. But I would still pick the first JP voice for her. Because I really loved Li-Mei's performance for Carly so much more.

It's a darn shame she was one of the casualties of the sheer tornado of behind-the-scenes crap that plagued the middle of the show and forced the shift. Probably one of the worst casualties too. For those unaware, the idea of Yliaster being a cult was changed to the future stuff after some dangerous cult stuff was happening again at the time, and the show definitely didn't want any association with them. Unfortunately, Carly's original actress was found to be part of a cult, though unclear if the same one, so she was let go for the same reasons. Now while a seiyuu change would hardly be the cause of a decrease in importance, the writers probably felt that the fact that since Carly's own story arc effectively had her be brainwashed into a cult, never mind if she has no memories of it, it might bring bother the audience (since Japan frowns on such kinds of cults much more strongly than the West does, as far as I know), so they probably tried to do as little with her as possible to sweep the whole issue under the rug. It adds up to the sudden lack of importance Kiryu or the other minor characters during said arc had, and the sudden lack of use for the Saviour forms; the show was slowly but surely trying to distance itself from that part.

Yeah I read that somewhere before. Also, Crow was supposed to be the final Dark Signer and his Earthbound Immortal was Wiraquotcha Rasca. Its really a shame they cut all this stuff. The whole "synchro energy catastrophe" always seemed like bull*hit to me.

@@yatagarasu2984 He was, and I'm frankly glad they scrapped that. While I completely agree he shouldn't have been given Rua's original place as the 5th Signer, I actually abhor the idea of Crow being a bad guy, let alone the final one, as well. Weren't Jack and Kiryu already enough? I'm glad that among the other members of Team Satisfaction, there's one whose soul Yusei didn't have to save. Crow's a good boy. I think it might have been more acceptable if he joined the team in a Bruno-like capacity: not an actual Signer, but an honorary one and can stand alongside the team. Even when the five Signers have to be the ones on the frontlines, he'll still be there, because he will. Crow's a good character. He's just the victim of the business aspect of the show. Especially tragic considering Blackwings apparently ended up being a fad.

@@reyonXIII I agree with you. Its hard to imagine Crow being a bad guy especially with his positive attitude. But it really sucks we didn't see more of Arcadia movement or Devack's backstory which was supposed to be cult related. Ylliaster was supposed to be a cult instead of time travellers. I think the idea that Ylliaster is a cult would make the story darker and more interesting. The whole WRGP arc watered down the story.

@@yatagarasu2984 Yeah, and it deprived Aki of any more story potential related to her actual deal, so for me, to feel better about it, I resort to the Watsonian perspective that she was using that time to rebuild her life, which honestly, is not a bad thing for her, even if she's less active on the frontlines. But yeah, Carly and Aki, among others, really were the biggest casualties of the story change. But with all that gigantic pile of behind-the-scenes crap, It's honestly a miracle the show was salvaged in a form that still gave us awesome stuff, even if it didn't measure up to the first half.
