A log is boxed and cleaved to rafters.
The carpenters Karl-Magnus Melin and Daniel Eriksson boxes and cleavs a log into two rafters. The work is done in the forest after the tree has been felled with axe. The rafters will be used in the reconstruction of Södra Råda cornertimbered church. Built around 1310 and burnt down 2001. The documentary is filmed in Hökensås, Västergötland, Sweden the 12th of mars 2014. Camera, sound and cut: Anders Lundvang. A documentary from Craft Lab 2014.
Timmermännen Karl Magnus Melin och Daniel Eriksson blockar och klyver en stock till två sparrar. Arbetet sker med yxa direkt i skogen och ingår i rekonstruktionen av Södra Råda medeltidskyrka. Nästan så man kan känna doften av timmer i solen. Också melodiskt nästan som musik när de "boxar" och hugger båda två.

They was telling in the film that the axes was copyed from arciological founds, they have made themselves.

Thank You for asking Esteban and for Your answer, Barbro. I find out that most of the axes used in the project "Reconstruction of Södra Råda Medieval Church" are recently forged copies based on the find of medieval axes. Most axes have been forged by the blacksmith Bertil Pärmsten. Anders Lundvang, Filmmaker.

@@hantverkslaboratoriet7828 when passing traditional craftsmanship on to coming generations it is important paying notice to the correct professional terms describing the traditional craft, otherwise people of our time will confuse modern technology with the past your are eager preserving. Unable to distinguish completely different matters. - in our time of Google you can't search what you don't know about.. I'm pretty convinced Bertil smith didn't forge these tools, but made them by hand which therefore should be described as hand-forged axes... 🍻 A Danish smith
