One thing a lot of people don’t realize is that if you turn on the, ‘Reduce White Point’ option in the accessibility options you’ll be able to reach a darkness on your phone that truly utilizes the OLED display & while it’ll be really dark in the light if you turn it down before you go to sleep & when you wake up to peek at your phone the screen brightness will be the perfect brightness. It won’t affect your eyes or capability to be asleep at all. It’s heaven & you all should try it.

You could try reduce white point or double tap with three fingers to enable filters and turn on low light You need to enable something called “zoom” inside of settings though

That's useful. to not blast our eyes with blue light at night. Another way we can probably achieve the lock screen with a focus mode that sets a custom wallpaper for sleep, and with the red font.

Video gave me an idea. I created a shortcut so that the phone I’ll do this automatically when plugged in. It will also revert to regular when disconnected if you add the shortcut to perform the opposite.

Honestly I think that difference in wallpaper brightness is just because those smaller versions are there as display models for the two modes, and if it was full sized it would be just as bright.

Thanks for the video. But I’ve a request, you always keep the phone diagonally cross in the video. So people who watch it have to turn their phone or bend their head sometimes unknowingly to see the video straight. So if you hold the phone straight to the camera it would be convenient for the viewers. 👍🏼

This isn’t new… you can set the screen color to whatever you want, not just red, but it will shade everything in red or whatever color you select so make sure you know how to disable it as well.

it's just an accessibility setting, the triple side button press is the accessibility shortcut you enable in settings. if you wanted to do the color filter thing for night vision ideally you'd make an automated shortcut for that.

That wallpaper exists in iPadOS 16 right now because iPadOS doesn’t have the Lock Screen features like iOS does.

It would be much more useful if “night mode“ would automatically come in to play from sunset until sunrise without us having to manually set it or unset it! Incidentally what do you call a “darker mode” is nothing more than the inverted colors that just happened to be darker, similar to a negative photograph from the days of celluloid camera film.
