This webinar, hosted by the hosted by REL Northeast & Islands on behalf of the REL Equitable Opportunities to Learn in STEM Leadership Area, featured panelists Dr. Megan Bang, Professor of Learning Sciences, Northwestern School of Education and Social Policy (SESP), and Dr. Tamara Clegg, Associate Professor & Program Director of the BA in Tech & Info Design, College of Information Studies, University of Maryland. The webinar focused on expanding participants’ concepts of STEM learning from textbook-based, school laboratory settings to community-focused, sustainable, change-making experiences. The presenters provided examples of making learning relevant for all students, moving outside the classroom walls, and engaging the community in both working with and learning alongside teachers and students.
