Seriously, thank you so much for this pin series. I recently wrapped up an enamel pin Kickstater that ended up being bigger than I anticipated and was sort of in a panic about getting everything in order. This has been so helpful & now I feel prepared to tackle all these pins.

Your tutorials are amazing! I have been pretty fearful of starting my pin business, but your enamel pin 101 really makes me feel like I can do it. I love your packaging, and it's so hard to not use plastic everything! I am going to try and look up some eco friendly packaging options as well.

Researching this super fun endeavor as I am very interested at the moment in pin making and your videos are so helpful! I think we are very similar in our presentation preference so I'm glad you have the link to the clear bag business card size packaging!! Thank you! And it's encouraging to hear you're married and have a son as I am married and very likely going to start a family soon! Was a funny thing you mentioned about staying up late packaging but it meant a lot for me to hear as you've been so successful in this field!

Very cool! Thanks for the advice! I’m currently getting my first pin manufactured and am trying to figure out packaging. I was initially thinking making water color paper backing cards and while painting would be fun, the cutting out would be so time consuming. I appreciate the perspective!

Congrats on your first pin!! I totally made my own packaging for a loooooong time. It's easy in a pinch but can definitely be time consuming! I was soooo glad when I decided to get them made. I'm sure you could achieve a similar watercolor effect with some fancy paper and a really good print shop!

Will you be doing more in this series? I'd love to know your opinions on shipping itself (how to get the cost low, who to use, more detail on your shipping label method, international shipping, etc) :) And also perhaps who to sell through/the pros and cons of different vendor sites and how you came to choose the one you did.

Thank you so much for a response! A video would be amazing! I think the hardest thing for me has been finding the right angle / lighting to reduce the shine on my pins so that they blindingly glaring. My first set I got in are a really pretty copper, but the moment the light hits them for a photo - it's blinding. Haha. I had to take them in the bathroom and stand on the toilet for my last set. XD

Oh totally! Quick tip before I make a video: use a piece of white paper or foam core as a reflector! I set up in front of a window and can angle the light and shine with a reflector!

Hi Becky! Again thank you so much for the videos and I already make that bubble envelope as one of my packaging options to send the pins. But anyways, do you add extra packaging for overseas orders to make it secure? Or any tips for overseas shipment so that the pins will arrive safely to the customers? Using a box maybe with more bubble wrap maybe? Hahaha. Thank you so much!
@BeckyHelms
@BeckyHelms 4 жыл бұрын
If I'm using a poly bubble envelope, I really don't need any more packaging. It makes shipping internationally less expensive, too! But, I do love use small boxes if someone orders a lot of pins and the envelope feels too stuffed. I hope that helps!

Thanks so much for these videos. They are always so helpful! But today there was a odd sound through out the video. I think it was your camera's focus, cause it only seemed to happen when the camera would refocus on you after you moved. Just wanted to give you a heads up on that. Thanks again for doing these videos, I've been following long with them and hope to make my own pins starting soon

I reacently started making pins, but shipping from the US to Canada is about the same price as a pin and I feel bad charging $10 for shipping. Is there a cheaper way to ship to Canada? 😭
@BeckyHelms
@BeckyHelms 4 жыл бұрын
If you go through stamps.com or shipstation it's cheaper! I actually have a section about it in my course! Catagorizing it as a thick envelope helps! It's hard because Etsy makes everything a "package" which is automatically more expensive to ship. Also, I love shipstation so much haha!

I would like to know how to give a correct price for a pin
@akudumb3021
@akudumb3021 3 жыл бұрын
You have to calculate the individual cost of one pin, add more according to what you think is enough money for your labor (packing, design making and such), add the individual cost of any packaging you offer. Example: Pin price (fresh made/bought) - $6 per pin Clear bag - 50 cents per baggie Backing card - $1 per card Labor time (your) - $6 Add everything: 6 + 0.5 + 1 + 6 = 13.5 You can adjust the price if you think it’s too low or high.
