Me and my girlfriend watch Disney's "ENCANTO" (2021) and it was a beautiful movie! The music in this movie was amazing! Hope you guys enjoy the reaction!

Movie Summary:
Encanto tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. I just love that when the house starts collapsing and the candle tips over, Isabela and Camilo look like they're rushing to help Mirabel and not to grab the candle...since we don't see either of them start moving until Mirabel's already on her way to the candle...and when she's in there alone, we don't hear anyone call for her to get the candle, they all just call for her to get out and to leave the candle. They cared about *her*, not the candle or the miracle.

As a latina/ Arab I dance subconsciously while hearing this soundtrack ESPECIALLY we don’t talk about bruno! I can’t understand how anyone could listen to this without dancing

It’s not just, _she gave them back their gifts._ Think of Mirabel’s impact on her family through the whole movie: Antonio was nervous for his big day. She got him to his door. Luisa was carrying way too much; she got her to open up about her burdens. Bruno was ostracized and alienated from the family; she reached out and brought him home. Isabela felt stuck, trapped having to be perfect; she inspired her to explore what else she could do- and be. Abuela had deep unhealed trauma from the past; Mirabel opened her eyes, not only to the effect this was having on the rest of the family, but also to a way forward. Mirabel is the glue binding the family together- the new, living embodiment of the candle which went out in her hands. She didn’t get a door when she was small, because her door is the front door. She interacts and has a relationship with Casita in a way that none of the rest of the family does except Abuela; and she is the one who will inherit Abuela’s position as keeper of the family miracle, when Abuela passes on.

Yes to everything except she's already inherited the role. Abuela protected the candle (which is now gone) but we never quite see her interact with the house the way Mirabel does.

The anger I feel when I see people react to this and say “so it wasn’t supposed to be Isabella”. Yes it was Bruno says the visions were out of order you see the butterfly landing on the grass and then you see the mirabel hugging Isabella. It was supposed to happen they were two separate events. His visions arent wrong ever but you can usually do something to make or not make it happen. She needed to embrace the whole family and fix her relationship with all of them. I’m even sure talking to Luisa about her pressure problem helped a bit. The house is tied to mirabels feelings. The cracks Bruno were patching for years was mirabel bottling up how she was feeling and when she started to show them the cracks started to show. Hugging Isabella was working and the house probably would’ve been fine if her abuela would’ve stopped and listened

Mirabel is Abuela's successor. Like her grandmother, she has no gift, but does have a special bond with the house. She is the source of the gifts now. The Encanto (Enchantment) originally came from Abuela Alma's grief and desire for safety; it was renewed by Mirabel's love and desire for growth and acceptance.

Bruno's power was to tell the future, not to give solutions to problems. So when he showed Mirabel hugging Isabella, it's because it was going to happen, not because he was providing the answer to the problem.

There is a lot of discussion that Mirabel will be the next ‘keeper of the gift’ after Abuela passes. Each characters clothing represents their powers, and both Mirabel and Abuelas dresses are covered in butterflies. They are also the only 2 who ever talk to The house directly.

Mirabel’s gift is that she’s the one that brought the family together and when Abuela passes on Mirabel is going to be the head of the family that keeps the community together.

Mirabel had to embrace both Isabela and Abuela. The cracks in the house were the physical manifestation of the cracks in the family. That's why the house cracks more when Abuela and Mirabel's parents argue and heals when Isabela and Mirabel make up. It's just the biggest rift was between Mirabel and Abuela and their argument finally breaks the family, and the house, in two. It's my favorite Disney movie and possibly my favorite movie ever.

I saw somewhere that Mirabel not having a power means that she's the "next abuela", like, her gift is to be the lider of the family. Like you said, she's the glue keeping the family together.

It was Isabela she had to hug because by realizing that Isabela had been suppressing her real self this whole time, and it was tearing her apart, Mirabel was able to realize what was wrong with the family, and why the miracle was dying in the first place. It wasn't random. She had to heal her family, and for that, she had to Hear them, properly, and see how they were all struggling.

Of course, the thing with abuela was also important, but keep in mind, Bruno's gift is to see the future, not specifically to give solutions, and his vision was right. She did hug Isabela, and the candle did grow brighter. It was just one part of the puzzle.

Plus, Bruno explained that his visions weren't always in order. So, Mira hugging her abuela was in his vision too. At one point, just before Isa is shown, you can see an incomplete outline of Alma before the image shrinks down to a much clearer outline of Isabela hugging Mirabel.

I think that Mirabel is supposed to replace Abuela as the head of the family. Someone must guard the candle and communicate with the house. And the house specifically asked Mirabel for help.

Isabella WAS the person in Bruno's vision of the candle. If Mirabel didnt break through her issues (like she did with Louisa), then she wouldnt have confronted her Abuela. The vision was about her hugging Isabella and making the candle burn, which it did. The stuff with Abuela at the river is caused by Mirabel's decision.

I think her purpose wasn’t to hug Isabella, but to help her power grow like Bruno predicted. If you pay close attention to the vision, the silhouette is of her grandma. The candle lighting higher, then nothing changing is what pushed mirabel to realize that her issues with her sister weren’t what was causing the house to crumble

the way i saw it all was that mirabel would be the next matriarch of the family, the keeper of gifts or something. i picked up on that a little when she told antonio you're an animal person and then his powers were centered around animals. i felt she had a bigger connection to everyone's gifts instead of just the one gift even though she herself couldn't have one?

Bruno’s vision still stands true. It’s supposed to be Isabela that Mirabel is supposed to hug. The embrace wasn’t about abuela. Every family structure and connection had to be fixed, and Mirabel-Isa’s had to be fixed. Bruno also said his vision is out of order. What he saw was destruction of the house with Mirabel in it, the butterfly, the hug, and Isabel. The order ended up being: Isabel, the hug, the destruction, then the butterfly

I think the initial body features for the person that Mirabel was supposed to fight/embrace in the vision look more like Abuela's than Isabella's. I figure that represents she needs to embrace both, but since she also will have a fight with Abuela at first, Bruno is confused between fight and embrace.

Mirabel doesn't need a gift to be special or "useful". That's the whole point. I'd have been super disappointed if she had gotten one, and I'm impressed they didn't cave and do that. Also, Abuela has no gift. Mirabel is the next matriarch. Like Abuela. The glue holding it all together, look at how she helped Luisa, Isabella and Bruno, and finally Abuela, just by listening.

yes! the way both Alma and Mirabel wave to the casita. And Mirabel is helping heal from the trauma that always left Abuela too afraid to let her children and grandchildren fully thrive. And the Encanto itself needed the Madrigals to lose their magic to learn they can do things themselves instead of relying on the family's gifts too.

Her specific thing is the power of heart. Think of her like Hestia from Greek mythology she has the power of home. She makes a house a home, a town a community and a group of relatives into a family

Mirabel is the new guardian of the miracle. She will be the one who delivers the gifts to the next generations. Her door is the main door of the Madrigal house. The name "Mirabel" means "The one who sees with a beautiful gaze". That is, she is able to see the essence of others and bring out the best in other people.

I still think that Mirabel is the next Abuela. Abuela doesn’t have a gift but because the candle’s magic came from her, she’s in charge of it. At the end of the movie when mirabel puts the doorknob in place, SHE’s at the front of the family and HOLDING THE CANDLE. So I guess her gift is maintaining the magic itself.

Well it's actually a really important gift. If you think about it, she will be the next Abuela; the person in charge. They are going to respect her because she is the reason they has their gift, I mean abuela doesn't have one her self. Yet people still respect her because of not only the hardships she went through, but the miracle she holds. She is the foundation of casita, and Mirabel is too. That's why the cracks happened when they fought, and that's why the house reawakened when Mirabel put the door knob in. If anyone else were to touch the door I'm sure the house wouldn't have been sentient again.

But it seems the whole family ignores the most of what she is saying and nobody wants to “talk about Bruno” so she was probably tired of trying to say he was there.

Well, the point at the ending is "the miracle is not some magic that you've got, the miracle is YOU." So it would be disservice of that message if Mirabel suddenly got some magical power.

23:00 like bruno said the vision was out of order. It probably was abuela that she was hugging at first but then the vision shifted back to what needed to happen first. It was only because of her and Isabella having fun and getting along that gave mirabel the strength to stand up to abuela when she tried to once again blame her for bad things happening.

I love that mirable has glasses I believe shes the first Disney main character to wear glasses. That's pretty big... imagine being a kid that has to start wearing glasses and having no Disney role model that has glasses, but now they do. 🙂

She's not the first Disney main movie character with glasses (Milo from Atlantis was the first, then Chicken Little, then Lewis from Meet the Robinsons). However she is the first female main character to wear glasses and if she becomes selected to be apart of the Disney Princess lineup come the future that she would be the first to wear glasses also (In Ralph Breaks the Internet a concept of Snow White wearing glasses 'backstage' as she reveals she's near sighted would of made her be the first but that idea and concept got abandoned). As a person that needs to wear glasses she excited me for being a glasses wearing main character also and she became a character I adored.

Encanto I feel has been a huge success (which I'm very happy about) that has earned such acclaim.

@@DarkestNova556 Well my theory is very long i wrote it after being 11 times in cinema on Encanto (not my Disney record XD) and also i have something whitch say a lot and open your eyes "The Art of Encanto" this is whole book about making this movie so premiere of the book was after movie iand it solve lot of questions. My thinking was good. well but when they started omg it was totally different movie Mirabel even doesnt exist and ther was a few characters that arent in the movie. They wanted to do the movie about big familly but where they start amd where they end is like on the other side of the globe.

Mirabel is the Miracle (that pronunciation thing is no coincidence). And also Abuela’s replacement as chief, since they both have no apparent gift other than comunicating with the house and getting/restoring the Encanto.

They say that Mirabel didn’t get a door because Casita was supposed to be her door. That’s why when the house glowed at the end it was a sign that the house was Mirabel’s miracle. It was also a way to tell everyone that Mirabel is supposed to take abuelita’s place as patriarch because the grandmother was also the other person in the family who didn’t have a special gift.

Abuela didn’t have a power either. But she was the head of the family. I believe that mirabel showed that she will be the next head of the family. May not be a gift per se but probably the most important role in the family

Mirabel is the candle. It was the candle that brought magic and miracle to the house the first time with Abuela .. And in absence of the candle, Mirabel, the human candle fixes it.The whole house is her room. And The reason Mirabel didn't get a gift is because she is the gift.

There are two women in the house who don't have magic gifts. One is Mirabel, and the other is Abuela. Both women's magical power is the Candle. Abuela brought the magic when Abuelo Pedro died to light the way for the next generation. Mirabel got no room in the Old Casita because Abuela was occupying the only space for the glue of the family. But in the new house, Abuela steps aside some and acknowledges her granddaughter's contribution. We didn't see a room for Mirabel specifically, but her Door was the Front Door. She represents the next generation of the Abuela's role. And if you think about it, Mirabel is the one who manifests all of the family powers in turn. She might not have the weather, but her moods revealed the Cracks. Only she could see inside Bruno's vision to find deeper meaning. She's strong like Luisa, and graceful like Isabella. She is in tune to everything happening around her like Dolores. And she knows or learns how to speak to everyone in their preferred language style like Antonio. She is capable of changing on a dime to become what is needed in the moment like her shapeshifting cousin. And where her mother heals the body with food, Mirabel heals the soul (Abuela "Alma", literally Soul) with her heart. And she steers and guides the whole family like Abuela. She doesn't have one gift, she has all of them. And the town relates to her because she's "normal" like they are, even though she's a centerpiece in the Amazing Madrigals. The one thing that didn't reappear at the end was the Candle. The light of the miracle is now in the Family, and it's embodied by Mirabel until she has a grandchild of her own to take over as the Matriarch of the family. New magic gifts for new children in the family will now come from holding hands with Mirabel (and Abuela while she survives) before opening a Door.

Isabela looks a lot like abuela Alma when she was young.. that's where (intentionally) the confusion comes from, in the vision. and Maribel's door is the main door to the house.. she "is" the family and she will take Alma's place when she passes away

Fixing the relationship with the sister was important to understand that even the perfect golden child is living a life she never wanted. By breaking free from the image of the golden child, we can see that abuela blames mirabel for everything. Thus causing a crack in their relationship.

Literally everyone in her family cares about her. When she leaves the wreckage at the end of the movie they all prioritized finding her rather than dealing with their broken home.

I think it was Isabella hugging Mirabel in the vision, since it was actually showing future events but jumbled. The hug, the butterfly on the grass and the candle falling.

Mirabel's 'door' is the front door of the house. Indicating that she will become the new family matriarch. Also the family on the outside looked perfect but internally there was 'cracks' forming. Like Mirabel who might smile but is really not fine inside. Everybody had some sort of issue that in time will need to be addressed. Much stemming from the grandmother's trauma that just stemmed down (aka they needed a new foundation). The vision was of isabela because helping isabela was a necessary step in seeing what was causing the miracle to die. Isabela looks similar to Abuela and Mariano kind of looks like Abuelo, which is why Abuela wants them to get married and be the "perfect" couple. it's not until after finding out that Isabela never wanted to be perfect and that it is Abuela pushing that life onto her that Mirabel sees it is Abuela that is causing them to lose the miracle

I think Mirabel is meant to take Abuela's place as head of the family, keeping everyone together. Abuela doesn't have a power either, but she us the keeper of the magic. Mirabel and Abuela are the only two who talk to Casita

basically the plot of the movie was the miracle was granted to abuela alma in that moment because all she wanted was to protect her family, and so the miracle gave her casita as a home and her children gifts to protect themselves, however she saw this miracle as her second shot, and would do anything to keep it. she lost sight of the fact that the miracle was for her children, not for her and her reputation- they should get to do what they wanted with it, not be forced to spend every waking moment being exactly what abuela wanted and doing everything they could for the town. they should make their own choices and take breaks. of course, no one in the family realized it until it finally clicked for mirabel when she understood that it wasn’t just luisa taking on too much, putting herself under pressure, not just isabela having an idea of what is supposed to be perfect, but abuela forcing them to do this after she yelled at mirabel. the cracks were (supposedly) from every time that abuela had a bad thought about a member of the family, like “mirabel is a disgrace” or “bruno better get his act together or else” because those were moments where she no longer wanted the best for her family. at the end, mirabel is the one to open the door and supposedly the one to now carry the job that abuela once did, of handing out gifts and representing the madrigals. but hey, remember, thats justa. theory, A FILM THEORY!

Mirabelle is supposed to be the next abuela and Mirabelle was supposed to hug Isabella first because thats just how the web of time was gonna play out anyway and it was also the first step Mirabelle took to bonding with family that she wasnt as tight with, abuela was the next step

I think they talk about Hispanic community relations with their families it's quite similar like I'm Mexican but I could see my family inside the Madrigal's and thar inside our cultures there are a lot of traditions and most of them are religious, also the historical aspect of civil wars most of the important dates happened in the same time space with different circumstances

So here's my theory (spoilers): Bruno's vision wasn't either/or. The cracks in the house where symbolic of the cracks in the family. Getting the issues out to the point of the house crumbling was necessary for the grandmother to see how she was in the wrong. It took Mirabel to reassure the grandmother and heal what is broken (something she said she couldn't do in "Waiting on a Miracle). The house had to crumble so the family could rebuild with a new foundation.

While I think a big part of it was healing the grandmothers wounds from losing everything and feeling obliged to the magic giving them a home, I not getting power wasn't just due to the family problems. Her grandmother didn't have powers either, but was viewed as the holder of the power. I think Merabel was passed the torch, so to speak, from her grandmother. If you think about it, the power was tied to her grandmother. So, when her grandmother dies, the power would go away. So, I think it was necessary for a new head of the house, for the coming generations.

Throughout the movie she also didn’t really seem that upset that she didn’t get a super ability. More like she just wanted acceptance and appreciation from her family instead of a gift which is exactly what she gets in the end.

The vision has multiple parts that were out of order. Bruno himself mentions it’s out of order. Mirabel did hug Isabela in the vision, but it wasn’t what was going to happen last. It was however a necessary step on the path to saving the magic.

The songs in this movie were written by the incredible Lin-Manuel Miranda. He’s the creator of Hamilton, In The Heights, and he wrote the music for Moana. All of his songs are bangers. He writes in many different styles of music but typically he writes rap.

@@mrflickswatches I HIGHLY recommend checking out more of Lin’s work, all of his songs are bangers. Hamilton is available on Disney+ and it’s 2 hours and 45 minutes of straight fire. It’s full of hip-hop, R&B and other great genres. In The Heights is available on HBO Max and it’s a mix of hip-hop and latin music. The grandma in that movie is the same actress as the grandma in this movie lol.

her gift is "family" if you think about it, because of Mirabel that Isabela broke from her "little miss perfect" persona she didn't like, she help Luisa to relax and not carry all the family burden and asking for help isn't a bad thing, and she also help Abuela to realize that "the the miracle is you, not some gift just you", and Isabela and Dolores's prophecy came true because of Mirabel.

In every Diney movie, the heroe makes his journey with a sidekick but Mirabel, as in real life, she makes her journey alone. Another interesting thing is that in Disney movies the color green is for evil magic, but Colombia is a country where green is the king of colors, from emeralds to the vegetation that covers everything, that is why the future it looks green. Oh, c’mon! Her gift is her family. She saids it again and again. “I can’t talk about my gift without talking about my family”. “But what’s your gift?” They ask. And she goes again explaining that she has a magic family. Isn’t a magic family a gift? The rooms are according to the power. She got the full house, the door disappeared because the full house became her room. She also feels overwhelmed by her power (by her family) too like her siblings, and fears that without her family she is nothing. And she also overloads herself with tasks to feel she’s worth the family/her gift. In the end her door (the door of the full house) brights with her in the middle and the family around like the others were surrounded by their gifts on their doors. Because they are her gift. The room of Bruno was a mess after he left and rejected his gift as well as the house (Mirabel’s room now) suffers and cracks every time she feels like she’s not part of the family. The house started cracking when Bruno left because the family was already incomplete and she could feel it some way, even as a child. It was always there but the abuela couldn’t see it because she had so much fear to loose everything she couldn’t think of anything else than it finally occurring.
