Hello everyone, I am here again with a new boss run for you. So... Encanted Portals. It might have looked somewhat nice when the trailer first appeared couple of years ago. Yeah, obvious Cuphead rip-off but still interesting enough to make me want to give it a try. Well, I'm gonna save you some time and money and just recommend to pass on this one. It is just no good. Controls are not very responsive, levels are just long hallways filled with randomly (yes, it's procedurally generated) placed hazards and enemies, most bosses do not have any interesting attacks, hitboxes are not very precise (not in players favor, of course). Overall the game is very boring and no, having been made by only two people does not excuse it. That's all I wanted to say. Enjoy the video. I hope you won't fall asleep.

Yeah, this game is something special and not in a good way. Credit to you for tolerating it enough to no hit the bosses.

Boring gameplay aside, the character designs for the most part are quite excellent. I also enjoyed the music and how the settings influenced each variation of the boss theme.

I thought this game was still being developed, I saw no trailers showcasing the game on any platform, because if they did the devs would get dunked on immediately. Also this game looks so slow, the worst thing in a 2D shooter is when things get really boring, the best 2D shooters are either fast paced and/or unpredictable, and when everything here is so slow and dull, I would just get a refund. Go play any other run and gun game, I would recommend Cuphead but it’s made on Unity so I wouldn’t know if MDHR is gonna port the game to a new engine or not.

I'm kinda disappointed that the Beethoven boss only has one phase, and it's one of the more interesting ones in the list.

I bet the developers didn't take 30 years to finish this game...

This game was terrible. Calling it a Cuphead-like is giving it too much praise. It should be called a Cuphead Cash-in instead.

I just finished watching a long review/retrospective of the game from youtuber Ohyeah. It looks like the creators had some good ideas and goodwill but not the experience and knowledge to do best. Some users also theorize that the failure of the 2019 kickstarter made them abandon the project, or work on it only occasionally, for a long stretch of time and they completed it relatively quickly after getting the chance to finish it.

Art look great , would say isnt any worse than cuphead, but the fights just seem anemic.

Which mode did you play on? Easy,Normal or Insane?

Thing is, Design-wise, these ranged from Okay to WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING?! The Witch was okay at first, but then it devolved as the fight continued. The Cow was decent at the Begining, and even had it's funny moments with Phase 2, but it's Phase 3 Giant Robo Fight on Broomsticks was just pitiful. For the Not-Banjo Kazooie Nipper Boss, I liked it just fine. The Mustachioed Octopus was kinda weird, though. Phase 3 where it copied the DKC2 Bird Boss's Ghost Gimmick did make me Chuckle, however. Frog Prince Princess Peach was another Boss that was okay in my Opinion. The Buffalo Boss however was just Garbage. If you thought the Space Cow from Level 2 was a Ripoff of Cuphead's Esther Winchester, then try this Big Buffalo on for Size. Also, it looks stupid with the Tongue sticking out of the Teeth in the Boss Defeat Illustration. Elvis Rooster kinda reminds me of Don Bleuth's Rock-a-Doodle. Don't know why it becomes a Roman Gladiator and a Prehistoric Caveman for the 2nd and 3rd Phases respectively, though. Beethoven was in my Opinion, a great choice for making a Boss for a Game based on 1930s Rubber Hose Style Cartoons, like Merry Melodies and it's use of Classical Music. So having a Classical Musician like Him, Mozart, etc would be a No-Brainer for a Looney Tunes Style Run and Gun like this. My only problem with it is that A) The way the Telegraphed Piano Key Attacks look are so weird) and B) The way that Beethoven plays the Piano looks weird too. It's honestly in my Opinion the Best Looking of this Game's Bosses, but given how badly most of the Bosses in this Game look, there was never a High Bar to overcome. Cerberus just looked weird. I get that the Artist wanted to do something different, like give it different heads, like a Chihuahua, Pug, and Shiba, but it just comes off as the Awkward Middle Phase to this Bullshit Final Stage. Final Boss was absolute Shit. I know it's unfair to compare this to something as professionally made, like Cuphead, but it's the Truth. First Phase wasn't too bad, and the Inclusion of Frog Peach as an extra Hazard in this Phase wasn't too distracting. But then things take a turn for the weird when Phase 2 happens. Why does the Boss turn into a weirdly designed Tree, and why are the Player Characters Anthropomorphic Squirrels? Final Phase is the worst Boss Design I've ever seen in my Life! What the Hell is up with this High Guardian Spice looking Person? Are they trying to Emulate Anime-Style? Then why not something like Osamu Tezuka? Kingdom Hearts did that for Sora in their Timeless River World, which was mainly based on 1930s Walt Disney Animation. What the F@&K?! Tell me what you guys thought of Enchanted Portals' Boss Designs. I'd like to hear your thoughts on these.

A game with a lot of charm and inspiration ruined by horrid coding and design choices. No sound effects, some attacks and stage hazards have no tells, and, if the comments are any indicator, terrible controls. But the animation is amazing, the inspiration from Cuphead is definitely there, and the creativity is on full display.

A real shame the game turned out for the worst, it looked interesting enough, but lacked a lot of things.

Seriously this is a POS that should've stayed in development hell.
