So the executives saw the blood on the script and rewrote green lantern, which delayed it and made a better version by james gunn who used his guardians charm on that movie instead of guardians of the galaxy. It ended up coming out after man of steel but before batman v superman, green lantern was heralded as a masterpiece

They were planning this met up since 1st movie. Honestly I surprised with the luck MCU has. They r finally able to get the iconic characters together when they needed it most! The same happened with Black Panther , right when people were demanding for more diverse characters as lead!
