Instigating elite players rarely works. Guys like Pat Bev and D Brooks end up driving star opponents to greater performances by doing that stuff. It’ll work on lesser players like a Sabonis. In the past dudes like battier arrest and raja bell often shot their teams in the foot trying to get under Kobe’s skin.

I think what Bill is missing is that warriors teams always generally had size (not always height, sometimes width). Their size wasn't overly skilled and memorable but they put in the 15-20 min a night to wear teams down before putting in their 5 smaller skill players to go on runs. They have/had bigs like Zaza, Boget, West, McGee, Porter, Bjelica, and Looney.
@sleezyclips8068
@sleezyclips8068 Жыл бұрын
The other thing is that it’s not just about having a guy who is 7ft and 250. The warriors always had size across the lineup. 6’3”, 6’6”, 6’7”, 6’8”, 6’8” is a lot different defensively than a team that has 3 guys that are 6’3” and a couple 6’7” guys
@12gark
@12gark Жыл бұрын
@@sleezyclips8068 yes, the aggregate size is super important. Do you remember the 2020 Lakers? They bullied the shit out of everyone even when Howard and McGee were on the bench, because they had a bunch of lineups with Bron, AD, another 6'9 forward, and two 6'5-6'6 guards that could actually rebound and fight phisically with bigger dudes. The Warriors had a 6'3 guy playing power forward in this games, how are you supposed to keep LeBron and AD out of the paint when you power forward is smaller than the Lakers shooting guards!

They should just package Poole + Kuminga for O.G, use whatever collection of first-round picks on getting a true defensive center who can bang with bigs in the playoffs, and then give more minutes to Moody/Baldwin. If anything, the Lakers have shown how much of a difference adding the right pieces to an established core can make. Oh, it'd also help a ton of Klay didn't suck tremendously in the postseason and actually paced himself for the playoffs instead of worry about his personal numbers and hunting his shot all the time.

@@OMG-si3wn it actually makes a ton of sense imo. OG and the raptors don’t seem to be on the same page longterm, Kuminga gives them a replacement for him with the same upside and the same type of build. In addition to that they get a young scoring guard, even though he’s looked rough, he still has talent and potential. The raptors look like they’re about to lose both Vanvleet and Trent Jr. so they’ll have pretty much no guards. That plus picks is a nice return for OG

I can understand trying to trade Poole. He's good enough to start for may teams, too expensive to ride the bench, and not defensive enough to start next to Steph. Trading Kuminga though would be a blunder. Towards the end of the regular season he was getting more and more game time and playing really well. Then the playoffs start and he gets 3 minutes and benched for the his 1st mistake? A spineless lack of confidence from Kerr who instead has 34 minutes for Klay to chuck hero 3s at 20% Ridiculous!

Wiggins had a cracked rib in game 6, pretty sure that’s why he didn’t play well in game 6 after a really good game 5. But of course that doesn’t fit into your narrative.

I still think it's just entirely foolish to write this team off if Steph is still within the boundaries of his prime. It really came down to the wrong matchup at the wrong time. Imagine if they had played Phoenix instead of LA, they're probably advancing. They've got some huge questions to answer, but it's premature to think they're outright done.

This was 18 minutes of Bill trying to build a story line out of nothing and Russillo trying to fact check Bill's way out of that. As much as I understand what Bill's doing as a storyteller it kinda doesn't add up if you bring in all the facts. The real story is Lakers turned a dud team into a real contender by pilfering real talent from teams who don't know what to do with it, and the warriors saw a regression from a number of players. The Warriors were outmanned in that series and it hurt them, in particular the guys who didn't step up or never got a chance.

The Westbrook trade was a real heist, and I really think the League made it happen. The Lakers were desperate, and the Jazz who traded Gobert and Mitchell for such hauls, could easily bully LA out of a first for Vando alone, let alone taking Westbrick's contract back. It should have been both firsts. The Lakers were trying to trade their two firsts for Miles Turner and Buddy Heild! Instead they got DLo, Vando, and Malik Beasley, and got rid of Russ. For ONE FIRST! It was a heist, and put them in great position for the Playoffs. As a Jazz fan, I am so mad. :D

Upcoming 23/24 is last season of 5 year $190m contract Klay signed shortly AFTER his ACL injury. $43m is a lot, but it is last season. Klay resigns next summer for like 3 years, $50m. Poole and Klay need to switch roles where Poole starts and Klay comes off the bench. Best for Klay longevity and for the team. Poole got to tighten his handle and stop with the silly fouls.

The dynasty is probably done, but it is mostly due to age and the salary cap issues created by the success. Steph is still amazing, but he can't play at this level for much longer and it is nearly impossible to retool the roster given their salary situation. They had a chance with the draft in the last few years and they didn't draft well. Wiseman was a terrible pick.....bad fit and it was obvious his development was going to be lengthy. Kuminga has potential, but his development path was always going to be longer as well. The jury is still out on Moody. They needed to come out of those drafts with a couple good, rotational players. They don't really have any yet. A path back to prominence looks difficult.

Big teams? Gsw outscored all those teams. They keep close with their traditional lineup, then go deathlineup and do 20-2 run on the third, @nd its over. 90s bulls the same, they keep close and then do their deathline up (Kukoc at center, plug in kerr/buchler for additional firepower). Bulls vs Hakeem? Single coverage... they let hakeem get 40 and shutdown everyone else. Bulls have 6 rings, they have seen all types of teams (methodical jazz, high octane suns and sonics, bruising knicks, big pacer team with shooters.... etc).

honestly im glad the warriors run is over, so sick of that team by the end. their owner always spending 100s of millions more than any other team, draymond doing dirty b.s. and the refs letting him get away with it, klay flexing the four rings anytime anyone talked shit to him. the owner also paying for 10 assistant coaches five of them could be head coaches. the whole kevin durant superteam era, just ridiculous. not saying they didnt deserve their wins, the warriors were so incredibly good especially steph, I respect their culture and how unstoppable they were at their peak but its time for other teams to get theirs. Im sure people felt the same way about the bulls, lakers, and spurs.

@@witchdoctor813 Him and other people been saying so since 2016 actually lol...just because they want teams to fail doesn't mean realistically they will though. What's astounding is almost this exact same team JUST won a championship but because his beloved Celtics got punked out last season he's trying to speak some nonsense into existence. It reminds me of all those years Brady was supposedly washed up. If a guy like Jordan had kept playing and hadn't retired and immediately drank his nights away while chain smoking cigars he like Steph could have been relevant and kept winning championships for as long as he wanted. Guys whose games are built off skill, like a Duncan can play forever, guys like Shaq who's whole game was built on being big strong and athletic see a more severe drop off every season they play a sport. Steph will be able to carry teams to contention as long as he wants because your aim doesn't get worse as you get older, so you'll ALWAYS have to guard him at HALF COURT which IMMEDIATELY makes ANY offense potent ASF because teams can't afford to let a hot Steph shoot them out of a series
