One of my earliest memories of growing up was when I was about five or six. My mother was away visiting and my father had gone down the feild to bring in the cows. Only myself and my older brother in the house and a knock came to the door, it was a rainy night and when my brother opened the door the man from the telly and a neighbour was standing there smiling at us. He asked us were our parents in, my brother told him dad would be back in 20 minutes. They said he couldn't wait but came in from the rain and stood at the fire to warm up. He told us to let my father know he called and make sure he voted for him. He gave myself and my brother a bag of sweets and plastered us both with his election stickers that had a picture of himself on them while laughing to his own devilment. When he was leaving the neighbour accompanying him said you will remember this for a while. When my farther came home he looked at us and said where did ye get all the Charles Haughey stickers!

It's interesting listening and looking at the people interviewed. The second and third last men seem of their time, but the last man could be interviewed today. Hard to imagine he's speaking 50 years in the past!
