Thanks for recommending the installer script. Just to clarify, when you say it works 'perfectly' on the KE, does that include all its features or just the Mainsail part? Looking to understand its full compatibility. Thanks

I'm pretty sure you don't have to modify Klipper to get other webcams to work. The OS probably just doesn't have the drivers and kernel modules installed that are needed for generic USB camera support. Klipper itself actually doesn't directly deal with webcams. Platforms like MainsailOS include a separate daemon that manages the camera streams, like Crowsnest or mjpg-streamer.

Nice video. I would LOVE to see a video on the AI fault detection and how it works and when it does not work.

For me the FW update fixed the bad first layer issues. My ip webcam (yi home cam) doesn’t work. It shows an image in the setup, but I cannot activate it. Funny tho: once I installed octoeverywhere, their web service has remote access to the camera ;). And supposedly their ai detection also works.

I think you need crowsnest for the mainsail camera to work. But there's no way to install that right now. I just view the camera in a browser window currently.

The nebular cam works as the only camera. It’s unfortunate but it works really fine

@@Crosslink3DUse Destinal's preroot. You can use any cam that works with Klipper.

Hi, I installed moonraker/mainsail and I'm pretty happy with it, now I can print from cura and other slicers. The downside, though, is that now the print percentage in the touchscreen is always at 0% (all other functions are ok). Any hint about the cause and possible fix?

Do you know how to change nozzle diameter in the klipper software i seem to be locked out from doing so,,,,thanks

Nozzle Diameter can be changed in the firmware but mainly should be changed in the slicer. That should already be enough. Changing nozzle diameter in Klipper might affect some of the pre-defined macros but I wouldn’t bother with that in the first place. For my tests, I only changed it in the slicer and it worked fine

Thad said, isn't it better to go for ender v3 SE? You have a Raspberry Pi instead of the nebula/screen , can install octoprint and every software you need *easy*. And if this some day breaks, you replace it with an other RPi, not expensive nebula-pads. What do you think? Oh, you said it at the end. What about maintenance-wise? Also, can the SE print materials like ASA, Nylon etc?

there is no way to change the OS to install debian with the real version of klipper as you would do on a raspberry pi ?

There is a really good helper script to install all kinds of extensions: guilouz.github.io/Creality-K1-Series/ it’s originally for the k1 but it works also for the KE

I know it's an off-topic question... but does anyone know if the wifi/wireless features can be disabled and/or completely removed? Does it use a removable wifi card and can it be removed without any trouble? I have no use for wifi and would like to remove it altogether, so it doesn't end up becoming an unnecessary security problem.

If you had to choose between the Ender V3 KE and the Creality K1 ? I can get both at a good price . It's easier to reach all the different parts in a Bed-slinger printer then in a CoreXY and the moddability is overall better . I'm not sure if it worth giving up on the simplicity of the KE for the sake of a gain in speed the K1 may offer. Also noise is a high priority for me personally, I read that the K1 is possibly noisier.

Depends what you want . But even tho the speeds are technically the same , you will get limited by the Y axis on the bed slingers as tall prints will get knocked off and even the high accelerations will push cold air under the prints and will result in warping . I have the KE and I will most likely look for a core xy printer in the near future

The choice isn't just mods. The K1 is simply better at quality prints.

Ender 3 V3 KE has given me anything but problems. I ordered two and both can't see my 2.4GHz wireless SSID. Only shows a list that says text text text text.

The printer only supports 2.4ghz so if your WiFi has it enabled it should see it. Any kind of Mac filtering enabled? Special characters in the ssid?

@@Crosslink3D Instead of showing my SSID and my neighbors it shows a list of SSID with the words “text” on each line. I got a brand new replacement yesterday and had the exact same problem. I use both bands 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The fact that it doesn’t see my neighbors SSID tells me that is a hardware side problem. Flashing it with the new firmware didn’t help.

@@YokomoHoyo I have 2.4 and 5 combined to one SSID on my network and it shows just fine on the touchpad. It's pretty odd that you got two different ones that have the same problem.

@@GhostRider42278 Very odd and indeed. It wouldn’t even show my neighbors SSID. I went and bought the A1 from Bamboo Labs then the day that arrived they announced a recall. FML

Such Linux systems typically are built as images using a build environment such as buildroot, i.e. all dependencies are collected and compiled in that build environment and the resulting image is simply flashed onto the device then. It would be nice if Creality would release their build environment, but since such environments are often used by companies, the open-souce license of those tools often is GPL v2, not v3 and hence allows those companies to keep their own configurations and additions closed source.

It would yes, but V3 KE is literally buildroot NAME=Buildroot VERSION=2020.02.1-gdaa2351189-dirty ID=buildroot VERSION_ID=2020.02.1 PRETTY_NAME="Buildroot 2020.02.1" ls-ing the /bin directory shows me that pretty much every command and binary available is just busybox. So just vi, not nano. There is adb_shell though?

I just bought the Ender 3 V3 KE, it should arrive on friday, it was a huge upgrade from my ender 3 v2 neo, I have mixed feelings for my v2 neo 😂, it was my first printer and it wasnt easy to calibrate the bed, I still have issues with the bed leveling, i have to level the bed every 5 prints... I hate that part about my v2 neo... Unfortunately the old ender 3's are cheap enough and so economic to maintain to the point is nearly obligatory to own one if you want to go into 3D printing in Chile, I wanted a bambu lab printer, but it's nearly impossible to get one shipped from usa, some stores have preorders for bambu labs printers but they are overpriced.

Sure, you can uninstall your mainsail mode or completely wipe everything back to stock firmware with their tools

What a joke Creality is. I spent a whole day going down this rabbit hole and finally trying to cross compile GCC without any success. My hate towards Linux has also grown. Whatever, someone else will figure it out in a few months hopefully.

@ink3DThank you, I've already used that to set up everything else, but I was trying to install Crowsnest when I went down the rabbit hole. I'm having some issues with my Logitech c920 camera. Seems to be working randomly and with pretty low FPS, was hoping Crowsnest would fix it.

Mine just works, and I'm not messin' with it. Kudos to anyone who does though. I'm at the point where I just don't care to tinker anymore, and I want it to just work.

I gave up tinkering with 3d printers after I threw my Tevo Tarantula out the window 5 years ago when 3d printers were first made available lmao! Finally got back into 3d printing and this is my 1st printer in 5 years lol.. Works fine out of the box, so I'm not messing with it either lol.
