Goosebumps rippling up your arms. Hearing the Scions cry out their affirmations of their convictions in turn. The brass coming in, playing The Maker's Ruin. It was transcendental.

Endsinger is actually soft-enraging during that phase. Each new set of AoE deals more damage than the last one, ultimately this will result in one shot wipe if the party is really, like really slow to kill her.

Anyone else notice how in phase 1 the tips of her feathers are black, but then at the start of phase 2 they are a blue grey and then finally, they are a pale blue in the cutscene when she is beaten.

I just realized, from the same prayer scene back in the ARR opening, out of all the people they shown only Thancred and Yshtola made it this far. Everyone else is either dead or forced to be absent

Hey Y'Shtola tried TWICE to die. Teleporting into the Lifestream on two different planets. Though was pulled safely out of them. Thancred on the other hand with Y'Shtola's first teleport attempt was forced out onto the Dravanian Forelands, naked and afraid. To which he hunted and survived like a bigger badass than anyone realized. I mean he lost the ability to use Aether. While Y'Shtola became blind, and only sees through the power of Aether (even though such an ability is slowly killing her). And the reason she can read. It is because ink is infused with a little of Aether. All to preserve the text but gives people the ability to read the text.

For a little bit of a bonus: Compare the original prayer cutscene from 1.0/ARR to this scene. Thancred and Y'shtola are in fact praying in the exact same way they did back then. (And G'raha is taking up Papalymo's staff prayer, as an added extra)

There is something incredibly satisfying watching Ifrit, Garuda and Titan being summoned on this fight, like a visual representation of just how far our journey has taken us that even the enemies that once started our fame now fight by our side.

The designers of this fight did a phenomenal job, honestly. First time through this when phase 2 hit I immediately knew it was a burn down the boss phase without any guides or anyone needing to tell me. That's outstanding game design.

God this feels personal because YOU are the protagonist...not a fixed one like Noctus or Cloud YOU are the one who's getting the power of friendship from your friends. YOU are the one who's prevailing and fighting for the universe. I usually hate this whole trope in anime but Experiencing it first hand from a video game ?...Yeah maybe that deserves an exception.

You know, something just dawned on me. Phase 2 is another callback to FF4. Just like in the fight with Zeromus, friends that the main character (Cecil in 4, the WoL here) rally their hope and strength to give the champions a second wind.

it's also a bit of a callback to the "End of an Era" cinematic that was played when 1.0 was shut down and 2.0 started, showing the Scions praying in their attempt to re-seal Bahamut, especially the way Thancred tightens his hands.

Yoshi P is a huge FF/DQ nerd and has played them since like the NES days. when he came on board he was surprised that a game named final fantasy didnt have all the regular staples of a final fantasy game. and this scene is a double reference to the beginning of XIV and also to 4, since this is the FF4 inspired expansion.

I know someone commented on another video for this battle that. In the first phase she’s throwing powerful attacks at you and does 2 oblivions, but in the 2nd phase she does 3 attacks that are repeating and not really powerful. Also the one attack where she swats her wings over and over. Looks like a child struggling to swim and prevent themselves from drowning, but it can also symbolize she’s failed and is scare. Especially after surviving 2 oblivions that should have killed us, but it’s also the love of our friends that protected us and the love of our tank to protect their comrades in battle. This battle I truly feel has alot of meaning and feelings. The song also is beautiful because with the lyrics it truly means through wings of hope we will stand tall and carry on through the darkest of times and we won’t give up and will be strong.

It's Thordan all over again. A massive attack that's supposed to be the finishing move gets tanked and the villain gets spooked into a panicked flailing. Further the song of oblivion is answered with our song of hope symbolized with the bright light pushing back the darkness.

Oh you’re right! I forgot she calls the LB3 Dynamis. Tank LB3 is the love and desire of the Tank to protect their comrades with shielding, so a DPS LB3 is the desire to destroy the threat to their comrades and the star; and Healer is the love and hope to keep the others alive, even pushing past the cost of avoiding death

I also love how well the lyrics match up to the attacks. Like when the lyrics say “on wings of hope you rise up through the night higher oh higher” it’s literally when she opens her wings to hit us with despair and is just attacking through it to stop her.

With the help of true comrades, WoL shows that dynamis responds to Hope more than Despair. The universe itself wants to believe, and in that moment, WoL is its avatar. The literal Hope of the Universe.

@@mjmpkung9333 Well, I more or less know the rotation by heart so I can hide my UI. Also I am not a healer so I don't need to look at party hp bars. I just mitigate the tank busters with rampart or Vengence and raidwides with reprisal, healing myself from time to time and everything else is just doing my rotation.

Endsinger failed to realize one thing. The Warrior of Light and their friends have seen the world come close to falling into rule. Watched friends, family, and allies fall before their eyes. Even traveled to another world that was already on the brink of ruination. Yet through all the trials of hardship, pain, suffer, loss, and hopelessness. They came out on top and saw the one of the greatest and most terrifying powers at work, Hope. All give them the strength to push through and even saved WORLDS from destruction. I mean the Warrior of Light is also the Warrior of Darkness. The balance between the two. The chosen champion of Hydaelyn. Even come so far as to even best her in combat. A being of still limitless power. Even if she herself was dying. She passed on her gifts to the Warrior(s) and it is why in the end. Once the adventuring is done. The wars have settled. Peace has been achieved for a time. The old Warrior will lay down and pass on from the mortal coil. To be reborn anew. As a Godlike being to defend the Source and usher the souls of the fallen to be reborn. Even as centuries pass. Their mortal tales now as Legends and they will be seen as more like mythical gods than beings of flesh. To which maybe they will shape a new group of adventurers to end up being...Warriors of Light.

the coolest feeling about the gameplay aspect of this fight for me when i first did it when you summoned the other players, my GF and i were in a party, both of us had cleared ultima ultimate at the time and the other 6 players who summoned in were also legends of some kind and everyone was all cheering and pogging in the chat it was so fun we dumpstered that fight and this phase really felt like the counterattack. it was really good. insanely memorable

Any time I feel like the weight of the world is bearing down on me and there is no hope, I always come back to fight the Endsinger. In recent months, the pain and fear has been overwhelming, but *this fight*, this incredible story, reminds me to keep pushing forward no matter what.

my wife was so fucking excited when i finally got to this part in the story. i will not lie and that i had hype tears running down my face when i heard all of the scions, my friends, yell "light the way!" i had the biggest fucking grin on my face as the second half of the fight kicked in. i have never felt more driven to win a boss fight in any game i have ever played before then this one. follow this with the final fight with Zenos and my wife was so excited to talk to me about it all after i was finally finished. i fucking love this game and loved the feeling of finality when i finally finished it all.

FFXIV is one of the only pieces of media that I have ever seen to have put the first appearance of the “true enemy” near its freaking end and make it work. It could have went down as poorly as the final boss of FFXII, so it was a pretty bold choice that was potentially dangerous, but the team made it work by including Elpis and making it so darn good.

What you're saying applies more to FF9's Necron than FF12. We always knew from the beginning Vayne was the big bad, and Venat was shown pretty quickly in the story. The Undying wasn't some big reveal behind a curtain, it was just the big bads transforming into a stronger form.

I really love this fight.. not that I hate the boss, but on the contrary, I felt sadness and pity... the devs really did a phenomenal job to create The Endsinger (well, not just The Endsinger, but the whole Endwalker expansion). It made me feel that this isn't just about winning and stopping the end of the world, but also bringing hope to the lost. Her expression says it all. For the last boss to close one long chapter in our journey. I have no word but to praise everyone involved in creating this... masterpiece.

I kinda didn't like those final MSQ missions, kinda predicted how it would play out. But uh. The start of the trial was fine, felt like the usual FF final boss. And then this happened. And oop there I go ugly crying for the entire duration of that second phase

Kinda fucked up when you think about. Faith and prayers were given to the warrior of light to accomplish their mission....faith and prayers summon down primals... eh eh ;D

But those prayers are carried through dynamys in this case, not aether.

I mean it's not fucked up, basically every OP being was a primal or a person that became a primal out of the prayers and aether imbued in them. Hydaelyn included, i think endwalker just breaks the whole "primals are bad" idea

@@ferrestist1678 primals by nature can be dangerous as large enough beings of aether will have an effect on their surroundings if I remember rightly however, the bunnies told us the ascians had been teaching flawed creation rituals to the beast tribes to enhance that danger really making it much more noticeable than it should have been for their size. So zodiark probably had to go, the rest just needed better summoning.

It's Dynamis. Endsinger's (the boss) strength literally comes of the power of "hatred, loneliness, hopelessness" which probably according to your standards is just as "lame"
