In May 2024, we took a week-long trip to Krakow Poland, spending two days at the Polish theme park Energylandia. The park is without doubt one of the best theme parks I have ever visited. There is a huge variety of roller coasters and flat rides and there really is something for everyone. It’s amazing how many rides and attractions they’ve fit into the space they have and it feels like they’re constantly looking to expand. The Sweet Valley zone has only just opened and adds a different perspective to the park. We only just managed to fit everything we wanted to do into two full days and that was with the Water Park Zone being closed so for anyone thinking of visiting in future, I would certainly recommend allowing at least two days for your visit.
Normally when travelling abroad for a theme park, I do as much research as possible on what to expect, what the best rides are, and strategies for the day. As we picked this park specifically for Zadra, a RMC coaster ranked as easily one of the best in the world, I knew as long as we got that done the trip would be worth it and I could enjoy the freedom of everything being new, rather than seeing it all in advance from vlogs. And that probably helped make the park appear even better to me. It’s a beautiful park that’s really well looked after and so much fun to explore. If you enjoy roller coasters, flat rides and getting wet as much as we did, you’ll certainly have a good time.
Zadra is the best roller coaster in Europe in my opinion. And from my experience I’d have it only second to Steel Vengeance in the world. It’s just a few minutes of absolute chaos and we all absolutely loved it. It speeds up so much throughout the day and the back row of the last train of the day was unbelievable. It’s worth travelling to this park for Zadra alone.
Hyperion is another excellent roller coaster at the park. Built by Intamin, it’s not so much the airtime that I found great, but just the sheer speed that you travel. Its top speed is 88mph and big chucks of the ride are just meandering at great speed along the floor. Sounds boring but when you’re going so fast it’s really enjoyable.
Other notable mentions in terms of roller coasters include Abyssus, a multi launched coaster that’s the next level up from Icon; Formula, another launch coaster that’s very good but very short and Mayan, one of the worst SLC’s I’ve ever done (and that’s saying something!).
The park also has more water rides than you can count (and that’s excluding the water park zone). There’s two log flumes, two rapids, a water coaster and countless other water rides all over the place. With it being quite warm during our visit, these were very much appreciated for cool downs. I can’t think of a theme park with more variety of water rides.
In summary, if you keep a coaster count I’d 100% recommend a trip to Energylandia. I added 15 to my coaster count (taking me past 150) and Zadra went straight in at number 2. So definitely worth the trip.
