@@lilkhmer5 translating doesn't always go well though. Like they might have directly translated the lyrics to Korean. as native English speakers we have certain sayings and phrases that wouldn't translate well to Korean. Like in Bury a friend Billie sings "burry the hatchet", which means to stop a problem between two people or a group of people and become friendly. However, it might lose its meaning in translation. Something that I had to learn while studying other languages lol. Hope this helped a little

I wish someone would explain to all of them that bury a friend is about teen mental illness and literally burying your friends after they've committed suicide(its a vvvv common interpretation of the song). and that it's creepy and controlled like that for a reason. it's not 'too far' its expression. I can't watch her mvs bc of the gore but it is important art and not 'yucky'

It's interesting to see the huge difference between Korean and Western culture because her music videos or lyrics aren't considered controversial or inappropriate at all to young western teenagers. They're really tame compared to a lot of popular songs/artists. They definitely missed the meaning behind her videos so it would've been good to have someone that could explain it to them. Their screaming during the party's over was pretty annoying tbh :( especially considering what it's about

Hi xBye tf you talking about, there’s nothing wrong with Korean culture, I was just saying it’s interesting to see the difference damn. when you’re covering something outside of cultural norms, it would be good for someone to provide the watchers with context to avoid them completely missing the meaning as they did. when the party’s all over is a song about the toxicity and loneliness in a broken relationship and her video can be seen as a depiction of depression, illness and the poisoning of yourself with dangerous behaviours/traits. it’s an important conversation about mental health and just because it’s not their culture doesn’t mean the video producer couldn’t put in a bit more effort to try have the viewers understand it as it comes off as pretty frustrating and rude, although I’m sure it wasn’t intended

She talks abt things like suicide and depression in her songs, which is actually a huge issue in korea. I understand that they might not be used to the type of music because they probably grew up listening to happy and bright kpop songs, but i just wished they were a little more considerate and understanding. And I also hope increasing population of person who think about finding some hidden meanings in many songs. However the korean music is mainly care about only visual effect so they cannot become a meaning finder in many of musics Because of the affect of korean music culture. So I hope understand about that young girl. I'm bad at english so i hope you guys would understand what I'm saying.

I have to say I respect the boys for atleast attempting to analyze the deep meaning behind it, while the girls reacted cruelly. They commented about 'mental' and other words. But, I do get why they might be freaked out- Korean music videos don't have the thing American videos do. Of course the black and unique clips shown creeped them. All I'm saying here is, maybe the girls could've reacted more maturely about this- and try and pay respects to the artist, Billie and her PoV. No hate, and let's not try to start world war III in the comments... :)

You guys realize that all teenagers aren't big brain reddittors, or theorists, right? The girls reacting was fine, they were genuine and it was still a REACTION. If anything it's good to see that different people can react differently. The girls aren't 'annoying' for having their way of seeing things as scary, none of the meanings were explained to them and they didn't know what all of the visuals meant. If you were foreign and reacting to something not in your culture, your first instict isn't gonna be 'ooh I haVE to theorize about this right away as I watch it for the FIRST TIMe.'

Ok y’all need to understand that these are teenagers and probably won’t understand the deeper meanings behind the songs/lyrics, as shown by the guys trying to make them all about break ups. You are unnecessarily rude to these kids for showing their first impressions and it’s incredibly sad. And for those of you taking their words too literally it’s a translation meaning it isn’t going to be exact and the nuances/mannerisms are interpreted differently. Stop getting so triggered and accept that not everyone is always looking for the DeEpER mEaNIng and night just want to enjoy the song or react to it for what it appears like to them. You aren’t better than them for knowing more or thinking more abstractly. Stop being rude and making Billie fans look like triggered, toxic, pre teens.

Margie T I agree in some aspects but at the same time even if “they are teenagers and probably won’t understand” Billie Eilish’s entire audience is mainly teenagers that completely understand her concept and can relate to it. I honestly think the deeper meanings are quite obvious in her music videos too. But I agree it is probably a culture shock to them so their first impressions wouldn’t be the same as people from the west. I do wish they would have focused more on the song lyrics and try to understand the artist rather than make disgusted noises the entire time.

All of you are expecting them to immediately analyse the entire MV for meaning, just let them experience the MV, they still tried to put meaning behind it even if it wasn't right or only a little. You can't tell me that the moment you saw billie's music videos you immediately understood the meaning and were already analysing every aspect of it, you were just creeped out by the mv much like they r. Just because you like Billie and understood her music videos doesn't mean you can call other people annoying and stupid because they didn't act the way you wanted. This is the first reactions of the teens for goodness sake. Not everyone is going to react the same way you do especially when they're not even a fan of Billie. Like there's no need to compare it to Kpop cuz not everyone is going to be open to understand Kpop songs and the same goes for Billie's music. this is what's sad about the korean society. they tend to judge people too early that's why most of their korean idols get depression. They tend to have a standard of every things just like how they think ot this music video bcs their standard is to only have this and that genre, mostly the bright side. If you're not within this standard, you're out and unappreciated. They can't explore and appreciate things more if it's not within their standards. That's why probably hwasa said that "if im not in your standards, then i make my own standard" which is really sad because they cant appreciate everyone's differences that makes each of us unique. Good reaction tho :)

I like how the girls just rlly enjoyed the visual aspect and were rlly interested because Billie is more of a visual artist and i like how the guys really tried to dissect the lyrics and make sense of them. Even though they were off track it was a nice interpretation and they felt the emotions conveyed.

It seems that western teenagers are more mature than Koreans. Billie was only 16-17 years old when she wrote those songs and made a mv for them both
