+miroshi Thanks for the videos. Me and a bunch of my friends would always try and find Best Motoring videos in Highschool (2000-04). Now the only places that give near the detail are MOTIVE and sometimes MotorTrend, but they still don't come close the track battles. I mean the wheel to wheel racing is just great to watch.

Power_of_R you make it sound like that's rare. That's what happens when you lock up any brakes. They probably removed ABS which isn't uncommon for a ton of high spec built cars.

To me it seems that the EG had too little brake force to the rear tires and a bit too soft on the front suspension so it locks the front so easily when applying heavy brake and prevent driver doing weight transfer during tight turns. However there's a bit hesitation of Orido's input as well, he said something like "I totally can't understand..." before the 2nd crash and claims understeering during the sighting session before race. Maybe the car's response disturbing Orido from doing the input he wants then causing the crash....

Looks like there was maybe something wrong with the steering rack or tie rods, as the steering wheel was fully turned right yet from the outside you see the wheels are pointing straight ahead, something was broken

@Xmvw2X 8 жыл бұрын
+hondahillracing If a person doesn't know the car well enough, it may still be an unknown. I do not know how the car was set up for brake bias. With ABS, the system will redistribute balance. You just mash the brakes, and the system will even it out. Without ABS, you're completely dependent on the mechanical balance. Most stock setups are balanced with a front bias to promote understeer. Some systems may be set up more moderately so. When feeling for brake threshold, you might have one of two expectations. One, if you know it's front biased, you're trying to feel the front tire lockup and modulate just before. You add braking distance and hope you don't forget to do so on the next corner. You also avoid all steering and basically throw trail braking out the window. Two, you're feeling for the rear end to get loose, but that will never happen. I think a lot of people learn to focus quite heavily on this, so a lot of your mental tuning for braking ends up on the back end. The mind learns to think front steer, rear brake/throttle. Then you get into a front brake, front no steer situation, it throws the mental training out of whack. The bigger issue revolves around grip expectation. When driving, you get a very good sense of total grip, especially if there's a lot of steady state cornering. You gain an expectation of overall G force the car can support and carry this expectation to braking. With a well set car, this assumption is correct, and you'll have a pretty even grip level as you load the car in any direction. When you brake with a poorly biased setup, you might be 10% to 30% off of this maximum depending on how bad it's set. Even a very mild discrepancy will generate a 10%-15% loss of straight line braking distance. Plus there's no way to make corrections of any kind as you transition into cornering. You come to a corner with a sum expectation and end up short changed by a good margin. The first time the driver experienced this should have been a huge red flag to fix the balance.
