Synopsis:
The 90-year-old Kazakh elder, Hali, recalls stories from his youth: He, along with his grandmother and his uncle Keistel, roamed the pastures through the four seasons with a little lamb named Salbas, who had lost its mother. His uncle secretly loved Ukubala, the daughter of a wealthy man named Sultan. However, Sultan planned to marry her off to a rich young man. At the wedding, Ukubala eloped with the flower rider Akhtai.
Five years later, she became a widow and eventually married Keistel. After the marriage, Grandmother Sara, Uncle Keistel, and Hali took great care of Ukubala, but she always longed for her two children. Through the experiences of his grandmother and Ukubala, Hali understood the profound love of the herdsmen, a love as enduring as petroglyphs, symbolizing the continuity of life.
