I don’t think he said aniyo. The translation said he said “when?” & Aniyo is “No” in Korean & “Eonje” is “when” in Korean, so it must’ve been in Mandarin or in his dialect

What I learned about skin color while watching Idol Producer and PD101 China is that in China having a light skin is really important, even more than in Korea. They use white makeup and sometimes you can even see a really huge difference from their neck and their faces. I don't agree at all, but sadly that's how it is.

i feel like he wouldnt have said it about samuel if he knew sammy was mixed race :/ or at least i would hope. like combating internalized and same-race colorism is a challenge but colorism at someone of another race has a whole extra layer of gross.

@@fooolsun4917 I think it wasn't his intention to discriminate or anything like that. He grew up in a culture where a fair skin used to mean wealth, and a good life (I think because royalty wouldn't have to work outside in the sun, so that's how their skin stayed fair and pale). It's just like how most western cultures prefer a tan on your skin Edit: idk if I got my point across in the right way. What I mean to say is that in most eastern cultures, fair skin is considered beautiful partly because of this reasoning. I could be wrong though

@@Landrobje yes you said it well. I feel people are quick to call him colorist without knowing that he didn’t say anything wrong. Because of course there are struggles that darker skin people have gone through but without understanding the context, you can’t just call someone colorist. There a lighter skin tone is more appreciated. Here in the UK a lot of lighter skinned people tan a lot and if this video was a light skin person wishing to be darker, I’m sure most people wouldn’t complain. He just needs to learn that his skin is beautiful just like every other skin tone.
