I loved this show too; especially Peng Xiao Ren's acting. One of the best historical/palace dramas out there! The OST is superb!! Have you seen The Journey of Flower and Ashes Of Love? Those are on my list of best C-dramas.

Indeed, I just finish watching the 52 ep. Excellent drama ! Will watch 2nd time soon after digesting it ! I accidentally fall on this series because was looking for Caesar Wu acting after "Heart of Loyalty". Agree with all your comments. However, he is not that of a true monster ! he has a warm heart and passion but circumstances and the world he belongs to, contribute to all the mishaps and betrayal, till the non-return point. He is somehow naiv , not dark !

I understand Chinese, so I totally understand the story without any translation. Many audiences have wrong understanding (based on the princess' subjective views) over prince LCY who could be killed anytime by his second brother, or the prime minister Gao Yu Ming if he success in his attempt stealing the kingdom away. So the primary goal of taking down prime minister Gao and the empress was not just the revenge for Gu family and LCY’s mother, but it is life and death to the people of dynasty Li. This plan was made by Chai Mu, Tzi Fu, Pei Chau before the prince LCY met the princess. LCY carried out this plan with tear and he struggled to see bloodshed along the way. And many of the bloodshed like the one of his second brother's was self inflicted. So GXW/LCY was not a cold hearted person at all. After prince GXW/LCY fell in love with the princess, everything LCY did was for and to protect her. The war between Dan Chi (evil to the people of dynasty Li) was inevitable. Killing her grandpa was an order from the emperor. He left everything and followed her jumping into the river of forgetfulness, and also the gate tower, but was stopped by general Pei. It was the princess' brother partnering with a treason attacking dynasty Li. So it was not LCY wanting to invade Si Chou. He was the best and the first emperor who governed dynasty Li with peace and without bloodshed. He never married again and have his own children to success his throne. Everything proved that Li Cheng Yin was not a monster who was ambitious for power. Being born as a prince and the background he was in, he was stuck in a position of making difficult decision. Actually the princess said she would forgive the prince in the story (Episode 8-9) that Gu Xiao Wu was referring himself to while they were on their way finding the princess' grandpa. If Chai Mu, Pei Chau, Tzi Fu can sit down with the princess and explain to her the plan behind of taking down the wicked and corrupt prime minister and the empress, and the way the crown prince temporary treated her was actually a protection for her, and if her teacher Tzi Fu didn't lie to the her and bad mouthed the crown prince LCY, there would not be a tragic ending. I don't feel sorry for the death of her teacher at all. He brought that to himself. He told Ah Du he wanted to live for himself even just for 6 months. So he decided to exit the plan and commit adultery. He has no right to take anyone's wife away. Just like GXW said, she is not an object to be taken away anywhere, anytime. She is the crown prince's wife. Especially the prince and the princess were both in love with each other, and their marriage was working toward a right direction of healing. Moreover, their marriage was a peace treaty between two nations. He was warned by the crown prince and his adopting father, but he chose death. I like many sweet contents, and the twist and turn of this story, but the tragic ending was unnecessary because it was caused by lies, miscommunication and misunderstanding in so many ways, especially with both of them losing and gaining back their memory. This story overall failed terribly to portray "true love" that can heal, overcome, endure, forgive and have a new beginning. The great Grandma was right saying, you cannot hate, but to let go in-order to pick up something more important. Yes, the princess was kind and lovely, but she only demanded an answer she wanted from the crown prince without listening to his heart. Perhaps she was too young and not have the wisdom to understand her own role and the crown prince and so unable to tackle the challenge. I feel very sorry for the crown prince LCY who was blamed for everything.

Unfortunately sin in the world has changed the heart ❤️ in humanity.

I agree. The only thing I actually loved about the drama was the FL actually realized the nature of her relationship early enough and tried to get out of it - even though she knew she couldn't quite escape given the time and society she was living in.

It’s great drama . I love the leads, great acting. The sceneries and costumes are awesome. It’s not happy ending. But, they made 4 mini sequels with happy ending.

The Wolf totally wrecked me emotionally. I cried so much and in the end my heart hurt for the characters even though I knew it was just a story.
