The fact that the owner got concerned with him pointing and 'firing' part of a big gun into the store everywhere shows he is a good gun shop owner who thinks safety first. He was probably wishing he knew a bit of Korean to ask you personally to stop..😅

That is common sense: you could never point the firing part at others and always point to the ground if there is no target in sight even if the firearm was not loaded.

I think the owner was looking worried because one of the primary rules of visiting a gun store is you can't flag another person going through your line of sight, even if the weapon is not loaded. I used to live close to a pawn shop/gun store in Stockbridge Georgia, many years ago. And the owners put up a huge sign you couldn't miss, and that was one of the rules.

4 rules of gun safety: 1. Treat every firearm as if its loaded 2. Never aim at anything you aren't willing to destroy 3. Know your target and whats behind your target 4. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire. To hurt someone, it requires breaking every rule.

You look so surprised by the gun shop. I’m from Texas. This is on every corner here and even in Walmart 😂😂. I’ve been shooting guns since I was ten years old. Grew up on a farm shooting rats and snakes as a kid. Graduated to wild hogs and deer to eat. Guns are fun but you need a little fear and a healthy respect to keep it safe. I really like your videos. Funny and educational. 😊😊
@BearClawTN

Too true. A healthy respect to any gun, loaded or unloaded. I remember the first time my Dad gave me the straight poop about guns was when he caught me trying to play with his .22 Colt single action army, and he tanned my hide real good. Then afterwards he took me to the chicken pen and asked me if I wanted chicken that night. I said, "Yes." He ask, "Which one do you like the least." I pointed to this one bantam rooster that flogged me every time I went in there to get eggs. I said, "That one." And as fast as those words left my mouth, Dad drew and shot from the hip, and that chicken's head was gone. The lesson learned is that a gun meant for one thing only: killing. A tool yes, but a killing tool. So be careful where you use it. Never forgot that lesson, and developed a healthy respect for guns since.

In South Korea, it's illegal to own guns and even police officers don't typically carry guns on them. The police station has a locked up area where weapons are stored and checked out temporarily for certain situations. Even for civilians, if you'd like to go hunting then you can rent out a rifle at legal locations (idk if it's also at the police station or not). That's why they laughed about "how many viewers will be able to buy guns" and it said "welcome to Korea" on the screen. Because they can't privately own guns in their country. Only the military and police have guns normally, but safety and documentation is a big thing. Could be wrong on some details since I'm not Korean, but from what I understand, that's the basics of it.

In a US gun store it is always polite, to ask if you can dry fire a firearm before doing so. Also, if you arent sure where to aim ask them. Obviously there is a language barrier but i understand why the owner would be nervous. Also while you shouldnt baby your own guns since they are meant to be able to take a beating, always be polite and handle firearns you dont own yet with care. If you arent buying it they gotta sell it to someone else so be gentle 😂.

The reason for handguns not having a manual safety is that many US citizen carry them for self defense. Because ordinary citizens are not as trained as a typical soldier, when under the actual stress and pressure of having to draw the gun and shoot a bad guy, many untrained citizens forget to take off the safety and in the moment when you need it the most the gun did not work because they did not disengage the safety. That is the reason it has become popular not to have a manual safety. So instead of manual safety, many handguns now have thumb safety, Trigger safety Firing pin safety and Drop Safety. this prevents firing of the weapon on accident. And instead everyone gets trained about trigger finger safety.

South Koreans are some of the most fierce and brave soldiers in the world. Some people dont know that they were actually in Vietnam in the 60's and fought huge waves of NVA off over and over, never losing ground. My sister is from South Korea, that country and its people will always have a special place in my heart.

I knew ROK soldiers in Vietnam. Five of them were out on patrol and walked into an enemy ambush. I don't know how many VC were part of the ambush group, but the 5 ROK soldiers killed 17 of them! One ROK soldier was wounded with a grenade fragment in the calf of his left leg.

Certain shooting ranges do offer fully automatic firearms that you can use with an instructor at a charge. I know my shooting range offers that. It probably depends on the state, whether shooting ranges can offer the service or not.

Reason for lack of safety is for response time. Guns can malfunction on its own with or without safety and adding another layer of item to think about in the middle of crisis is certainly not a good thing. In return, most gun owners are recommended to get proper holsters to carry in. Also most striker fired pistols have internal safety for drops and some will have trigger safety builtin

This video is awesome! 👍 And just so you know, rapid fire isn't necessarily illegal just disallowed in certain gun ranges. There are ranges specified for rapid fire. And of course if you were in the middle of nowhere or on private property they couldn't stop you from rapid fire.

I don't speak Korean so I wonder if it was a translation issue and they meant fully automatic instead. (which again, isn't illegal per se but just inaccessible to most)
@bachlava7

@@himawaricopter ahhh you do have a point! You cannot buy a fully automatic weapon normally. You can own them but most don't for a couple of reasons. A fully auto weapon can cost 10x more than a regular one. And the weapon needs a special license to own, so it's always on record with the government. For those that don't know the culture of the US, while many like guns, most of those people also have a deep resentment towards big government and intervention. This actually goes all the way back to the US separating itself from England in 1776.

8:09 The reason some of these firearms don't have safety switches is because some more modern firearms have a grip safety meaning the gun will not fire unless the palm of your hand is also pressing down on the "palm-lever" (idk what it's actually called). It still has a mechanical safety, just not a conventional lever because very often in the heat of the moment you may forget to switch it back on or off and those seconds matter. A grip safety you don't even have to think about it, just have a standard grip and pull.
@aw35242
@aw35242 Жыл бұрын
Very few modern guns use a grip safety, and the 1911 which is an age old design does use a grip safety. So thats not really accurate. The only few guns that use a grip safety are marketed towards being more 'gentle' and manageable.
@gregbagel791
@gregbagel791 Жыл бұрын
Its not a grip safety, but typically a "trigger safety", an extra lever within the trigger mechanism. A lot of SIG pistols have no safety at all. grip safeties are typically more common in Europe (unless you're using a 1911).
@jason200912
@jason200912 Жыл бұрын
the grip safety is something you'll see with 1911 which has a manual safety as well. The reason they don't have them is because some people forget to take off the safety in self defense and so they prefer the glock and SW trigger safety tab. I cannot think of many guns with grip safeties other than the 1911 and the p7 HK
@MadFluffysterXaines
@MadFluffysterXaines Жыл бұрын
Specifically for handguns the use of safety levers have gotten more rare. Generally after you've experienced carrying a firearm for self defense whether it be hunting, hiking, in the city, or vehicle use people tend to not like safeties as they can get in the way of defending yourself in a stressful situation. Safeties can seem great but you have to train under stress a lot to reliably remember to flip it off AFTER something happens. Yes its easy to flip, but everyone is different in a stressful situation and you arent thinking methodically or clearly without extensive training, so you can forget to flip the safety.

8:15 For the most part guns that don't have safeties have heavy triggers, this is so when you draw your gun you don't have to fiddle with the safety and can just immediately shoot. Also some guns have different kinds of safeties. 9:45 Also automatic fire is not actually illegal in the US, but it's highly regulated and requires a license and the weapons have to be make before 1985 (Give ot rake a few years).
