Yeah a lot of foreign Hololive fans that have been watching Hololive streams for a good amount of time tend to gain this "awareness" in the state of the chat of when it's appropriate to talk and when to tone it down in order to not fill the entire chat with English comments. I do wanna say that I hope the Japanese bros don't feel unmotivated to talk in the Hololive EN chat streams just because they'd feel out of place for the amount of English that there is in it, in fact I'd very much prefer if they could speak up more so that the chat can from the very beginning start getting used to having a mix of both english Viewers and Japanese viewers in the chat. Especially in the streams where the Hololive EN member speaks Japanese (majorly Kiara since she's actively trying to attract both Jp and En viewers together) That being said, don't worry Subaru, we'll watch over your chat and be there with a simple "Hey guys" for when you need us.
@StrikeNoir105E
@StrikeNoir105E 3 жыл бұрын
The Japanese do send SC's during the streams, which is most noticeable in SC readings when you hear the EN girls try to pronounce sometimes difficult Japanese names written in kanji or hiragana. Also, Kiara's also trying to catch the Germans as well especially with her random german at times and her ending sendoffs. She's also planning a German-only ASMR session apparently.
@kb-ww1uw

This. On Hololive JP we usually tend to be noisy at the start of the stream but it dials down because (I assume) we feel like we're taking up space from the jp comments when we don't even understand what she's saying. But for Hololive EN I'm fine with having JP comments all thoughout especially on Kiara's streams since she speaks in Japanese too. The Japanese bros built this community so it feels rude to exclude them from Hololive English.

Exactly. I mean, there has been a few times where some English comment flew and some of them felt confused by it. I even have someone that speak Japanese and English commented that it might be better not to flood the chat with English, seeing it might make more people confuse. In the long run, it will just disturb them and that's not what we want. We just want to see the Subaru-san entertaining everyone~ I guess the culture in Holo EN is a bit different. I myself don't really mind Japanese every now and then, heck I might even try to learn that if I can. So I can bond with my Japanese bros~!

Interestingly this is really only a thing with Subaru's overseas viewers. The other girls have pretty obvious overseas presence in their chats, with some specific members having a lot of english comments and sometimes other languages too. The one's with the most being Towa, Korone, Pekora, Rushia, Aki, 5th gen, and oddly Choco. While it isn't really a issue for most of them, Rushia unfortunately has a strangely high amount of spammers and trolls in her chat.

@JohnSmith-ef6sv
@JohnSmith-ef6sv 3 жыл бұрын
@@Kusamancer Rushia has a large amount of trolls even in Japanese. She handles it really well though. Pekora is the opposite and 90% of her trolls are actually Japanese with a surprisingly low amount of foreign trolls considering her memes. You just aren't aware because you can't read/understand the language. The only difference is there's no capitalization in Japanese so it doesn't look as obnoxious, and their jabs are usually punctual and limited to a few words with implied context. Honestly, the only time I really cringe is when someone who can't read/write Japanese puts a message through google translate to try and talk directly to the Japanese speakers in chat randomly during the stream. Once per stream or so you'll see a message from a romaji name that reads something like "Hi to my Japanese onii-sans from X(country)! I love Japan!" in broken Japanese. It feels super awkward and it's really common to see. Unlike in English streams, it's really rare for someone in chat there to quote someone else from chat or make a message directed at chat and/or someone in chat so it really stands out like a sore thumb.

Which is why stuff like "hey guys!", daipan, maringlish/elite english and the likes attract our attention, and we're always on the lookout for those to appear. In the case of our EN girls, stuff like simple greetings or a roughly translated version of a situation generally pulls the JP bros out, specially in the case of Ina, Gura and Amelia since they have limited japanese. It's been years since I've studied Japanese, so on streams/videos w/o subtitles I'm just trying to follow along, picking up whatever words I know and using context. Usually, though (and this is for anyone who's encountering a language they don't know), I just settle for the vibes being given off. In every language, you can tell when someone's excited, sad, angry, or just relaxing. May not understand what they're saying, but hey.. a vibe's a vibe.

I'm learning Japanese currently and it was a fun challenge to try to read everything. If I didnt have such limited knowledge of sentence structure, particle usage, and different subjects, I probably would've understood more of it, but it pretty much proves Subaru's point here.
