Ruan Liu Zheng returns to her hometown after seven years, and becomes a neurosurgeon at Bei Ya Hospital. However, she did not expect to meet her ex-husband, Ning Zhi Qian, who is the most experienced neurosurgeon at Bei Ya Hospital. Ning Zhi Qian volunteers to be Ruan Liu Zheng's mentor, in order to make up for the hurt he caused her. Ruan Liu Zheng is no longer the weak and timid girl, and shows resolute and determination in both her work and relationship. During work, Ruan Liu Zheng clashes with Ning Zhi Qian, but also works alongside him to save lives. When they were in Africa to execute medical relief efforts, Ning Zhi Qian was injured while saving a patient. the last few scenes alone spoke volumes. he never made her feel wanted, he never bothered going after her or looking for her which shows how much she's the one who's more in love. im so glad she was courageous enough to walk away and know her worth. what's funny is that 6 years later, he still didn't look for her (on the rooftop) so im wondering how he's going to make up for it the next few episodes

The last scene was so emotional and heartbreaking.... all it could take to make her stay was just a simple word "please stay, don't leave me" but he didn't even said that.....😭💔

That last scene is so heartbreaking, the way it was portrayed that all it takes for her to stay was just a simple 'don't leave' and 'can you stay?' yet he didn't. It only proves her that in their relationship, she was the only one in love. I think the male lead at that time was starting to realize he's falling for her but finds it hard to open up and feels guilty to ask her to stay after making her feel miserable in their marriage. It's hard to be rational in love though. I want them to still end up together but at the same time I dont. 😂 Setting aside the cliché storyline, the chemistry of the leads and the directing of this series are incredibly good!

You have to think more about his situation. He was a really lonely child. Growing up his mom wasn't around his father wasn't around so he had no raw model in loving someone. He had always made his own decisions, no one else was envolved in the process. He wasn't sure about what to do.

@@simonamocanu2951 Of course, I agree with you. That's why I said he finds it hard to open up. When he was having a hard time, he prefers to carry the burden alone instead of sharing it with his wife due to his upbringing, which made her misunderstand his intentions. On the other hand, the girl was insecure throughout their marriage. She felt like she was just a substitute of his fiancee who left him but still married him anyway, that's why you can see that she's always trying to make more effort in their marriage. There is clearly a lack of communication and imbalance in their relationship. The male lead don't open up to his wife which added to the female lead's insecurity. Both are definitely at fault, it's not just one person's mistake.

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but there’s a part of me that can relate and that definitely feels her pain, but there’s also a part of me that doesn’t feel sorry for her. He has shown her for years that he really wasn’t into her. She was a rebound and a substitute, like Senior Dong tried to explain to her. She ignored all the red flags and assumed that because she was a good woman to him and loved him deeply, that was enough to make him love her back. Unfortunately, that’s just not the case. And I know, from experience. Either way, I am enjoying the show and looking forward to see how it develops.

he did not mean to. they just think differently. for a good relationship you’re supposed to teach your partner how to love you. how is he supposed to read her mind ? he’s just respecting her choice. i’m not saying he’s innocent but just clarifying that it’s not one sided. it’s a communication problem that both of them are guilty of.

@@rkive..king7 you conscious that the core problem is their lack of communication. he wasn't bad, he was working extra hours on his thesis to get back to her earlier, he declined work opportunity for her pregnancy when she wasn't even pregnant, he took care of her, he was thinking of her when she wasn't there. he wasn't perfect but he wasn't bad either. she also didn't try to understand him. and she didn't teach him how to love her, she was just waiting for him to guess. real relationships don't work like that. ain't nobody gonna read your mind.

@@mrs.c4040 this drama is just mediocre. There are many other dramas that are much better. It's mainstream. Wang Chu Ran herself is a new artist. There's nothing special about her acting. My favorite Chinese artists are Zhao Li Ying and Dong Yao. Their acting is really good. 👍👍

I really hate these types of character. I sincerely hope that they don't end up together. It is so miserable to watch. A girl who has no self respect even after he doesn't love her. Girl find someone who loves and cherishes you not like him wo only needs you in when he want. That's why you shouldn't give love to someone else more than you could give to yourself. You should only give 50% to them and leave the rest to you. It's not being selfish, it is learning to love yourself first. If you don't know how to love yourself, then you don't have any rights to love others.

He just doesn’t love her enough. It was one sided from the start. Her affection for him, was like baggage for him. He seems to love his ex more- although he wasn’t unfaithful after he married her.

The point is that she ignored all the signs, seeing only what she wanted to see. He did a lot of wrong with her, he might have even tried at some point, but everything he did was just like taking responsibility for her and nothing more. I don't think he's even tried to fall in love with her and she's amazing. Well, it was destined to go wrong, mainly due to the lack of communication, I feel sorry for her but it was what she chose, and time reveals things and tests people, and at that moment the two were not meant to be. His attitudes were terrible

i like watching exes to lovers because its amazing to see how they change after many years, how they become mature and realise their mistakes and heal together. but this show none of them have changed. the girl has become more mature but thats it. theyre bonding and having sleepovers but none is talking about what happened many years ago. theyre doing the same thing and the writers are basically forcing heir relationship by including his son. the plot sucks

It is a good thing they broke up as he is not interested in staying married. He chose her because his mother told him. He only cares about his studies and work. He doesn't know how to love. The Fl character is still the same, without any self-respect. It pissed me off how she day dreaming and posing her nose into her ex husband's matter in present days. I would love to see her maturity and confidence level like the first episode.

wow wow wow so he never once begged her to stay after giving her nothing in return for her giving him her everything? I'm really not liking how he hasn't redeemed himself. Even in the present, he's way too casual. He caused her so much heartbreak and I haven't really seen real pain in him of loosing her yet. Hopefully that comes soon otherwise I'm not too fond of them getting back together :(

i took long but im so glad she finally realized that it wont work out and he is not putting in any effort. that he never loved her or prioritised her or gave her presence any importance. he always acted like she is a huge pile of stress in his life and he obliged to be nice to her because she is nice to him. she always gave her all, always tried to talk to him, trying telling him to be honest, to argue, to say whats bothering but he made no move to put effort. i want them to figure things out after 7 years, admit to their wrongs and improve NOT go back together like nothing happened. thats messed up

The part of his leaving is kind of stupid. At least in the novel, she knew he was leaving, but she lost her baby, and the fact that he did not call her at all made her lose hope in their relationship. Wish they had kept the original script where he rushed back to see her, ready to start over, and she shocked him with, "Let's get a divorce."
