【Synopsis】
In 1592, Toyotomi Hideyoshi unified Japan and invaded Korea, attempting to use it as a steppingstone to attack the Ming Dynasty of China. Korea was almost entirely occupied, and it had no choice but to seek assistance from the Wanli Emperor of the Ming Dynasty. They offered their princess, Lee Jin-yi, as a tribute to the Wanli Emperor. In order to aid the ally, the Wanli Emperor not only sent elite troops to besiege the Japanese army all the way to Pyongyang but also continued to dispatch reinforcements to the Korean battlefield, led by generals such as Chu Yunxuan, and escorted Lee Jin-yi back to Korea. However, the convoy of artillery encountered an ambush by the Japanese forces en route, resulting in the destruction of most of the manpower and weapons. Only Chu Yunxuan, Lee Jin-yi, and five others, along with a large cannon, survived. Chu Yunxuan faithfully fulfilled his duty, enduring various hardships and casualties along the way, and ultimately delivered the large cannon to the battlefield of Pyongyang. At a critical moment, they opened the city gates, helping the Ming army and the Korean people to defeat the Japanese invaders, safeguarding peace and justice.
