I mean, did he wait that long? When you're friends with someone your whole life, it can be hard to realize you like them. Her friend only noticed recently too. Also, most relationships realistically happen in college and most high school sweethearts don't end up together. Aren't they only in their first year of college? It seems pretty reasonable to me. He didn't wait long after he realized his feelings to confess and they didn't start college that long ago. If anything, he's one of the faster ones to confess.

I felt so bad for Cai Yasi… it’s bad enough she rejected his first confession but to use the plushie he gave her to support Fanchou’s head while he slept was the last straw… I gasped when he took the QR code off the foot because I knew it would be his second confession and then I teared up when he scrunched it up on the steps because he knew it was fruitless after seeing how Zhou Xiao looked so hopeless when Fanchou was talking to… god I forget her name, the one that makes me roll my eyes the second I see her lmao 😂

Am a girl and I had a crush on my very good childhood friend, in 6th grade he knew I liked him and that day we had a huge argument and never talked again. Now am in 8th grade and we still don't talk like friends when he talks to his other friends who are also my friends it hurts a lot. My love for Him destroyed our friendship. We still argue but never talk as friends and we rarely talk to each other, he blames me if one of his female friends are in trouble and argues with me. I cry a lot for a while after any argument, love is hard if her friend told her she would have done the same as my crush did or she could have accepted his love there different ways it could turn out to be, so what ever happenes it for the best 😊♥️

I hate how everyone feels bad for Cai Yasi but finds her annoying. The double standards. It's only annoying because we are watching from the 1st lead's perspective. If we watch it from her perspective, unrequited love is very painful and heartbreaking. She is just trying her best to fight for her love.

@@Bonbon-lk9gv Not sure if this episode got there yet but after finishing the drama, I disagree. There's a difference between just being heartbroken and actively trying to sabotage someone else's relationship - the latter crosses the line. We can chalk this up partly to women just being portrayed really horribly in dramas in general as petty and manipulative when they're second leads as opposed to male second leads (you're right in that there's a double standard, but I think that double standard takes place more so in the writers than the viewers here). Cai Yasi and the female second lead handle their unrequited love differently and in my opinion the latter's is much more harmful than the other.

He too couldn't let her go despite knowing that she liked Fan Zhou, he PUBLICLY embarrassed her by professing his crush in a school event, making her the subject of rumours for a time being. He also constantly lies to her. He's not a saint either. Both the supporting actors are the main leads childhood best friends who is lowkey in love with them for years. It's not easy to see them become someone else's. Considering how you are a female, it's so disappointing and disgusting to see that you too contribute to the double standards.

@@Bonbon-lk9gv I never said he was a saint and public confessions are horrible but I see a huge difference between doing that and (spoiler) underhandedly altering someone’s health check results to take advantage of someone’s familial trauma which you grew up knowing about. She explicitly said she wanted to break them up through that. My biggest point is that this isn’t as simple as your portrayal of “the viewers are all sexist.” There is a double standard on the viewers’ side but the viewers reacted a certain way BECAUSE writers of the drama wrote those characters very differently. There’s a double standard in drama screenwriting and production which is a caveat you shouldn’t ignore just because it’s easier to point a finger at commenters and call them sexist :)
