Non non, the director knew exactly what he wanted and Sugita knew exactly what he was asked. It was the rest of the cast who knew not what they were about to witness. I'm sure anyone who's worked with Sugita in the past would know exactly what to expect once Sugita is asked to just "be himself".

I watched charlotte several months ago.. at that time I didn't know sugita yet.. but this scene is the highlight of the show for me😂😂 the character only came up like 2 or 3 times but he's such a scene stealer.. after I watched gintama sugita immediately became my fav seiyuu and only weeks ago I realized he was the seiyuu for that iconic character too
