Dossen A Adelina Sotnikova is NOT technically superior to Yuna Kim. Her multiple errors indicate that she has not mastered the jumps (3Lz-3T) nor throughout seasons before Sochi. Even her 3Lz-3Lo attempts got edge calls and under-rotation issues before. This is a clear display of technical vulnerability and inferiority. GOEs are highly subjective by the biased judges. The Technical Panel should have an effect on the final scores. A called wrong edge means an automatic -2 to -3 and a mandatory negative scaled GOE but without an ‘e’ call, it would only be -1 to -2 and negative scaled GOE is not mandatory. Therefore GOEs itself change the overall scores of the skaters. In Sochi, the rules in giving GOEs were not followed at all; rather they were given without explanation or valid reason to support them.

A skating blog that I visit periodically recently decided to revisit the competition and gathering up other bloggers or figure skating aficionados they, with cold eye objectivity, re-judged the Sochi ladies performance and component scores; measuring TES, GOE, etc. Pretty interesting results THEY came up with... thenakedice.blogspot.jp/2016/10/well-be-judge-of-that-2014-sochi.html
@karolam1929

neil adlington I checked these results. I wouldn’t call it “cold objectivity”. No downgrade on Adelina’s 3Lz3T with obviously wrong edge and underrotation on Toe loop, but a downgrade on slightly underrotated Yuna’s 3Lz. Also no downgrade on Mao’s wrong edge 3Lz and underrotated 3L. Yes, I agree that Mao was underscored in Sochi but common we have to be fair in scoring, otherwise we’re no different than biased judges.

Although she is very competitive, I still think she was primarily crying because all of the stress she went through in the past months before the Sochi Olympics: she felt just relieved. I am pretty sure she was 'forced' to compete at Worlds 2013 and season 2013/2014 by the Korean Federation, you can tell it by her interviews and even non-verbal communications. She said several times long before the Olympics that she skates to get spots for the Olympics for younger Korean skaters and her aim was not to win a gold again. She was also crying because it was her final competition, just imagine how emotional must've been that. Remember 2011 Worlds? She was also crying on the podium not because she got silver, but the fact that she thought it was her last ever competition. Though, it must've been enormously difficult to compete at Sochi as the last skater. I am sure she knew that if she doesn't win, although she will be happy that's over, her nation won't be 100% satisfied, and she thought how sressful will it be to go back to Korea and face the fact that even she made two perfect programs she couldn't win and that's why the media and the people will be angry at judges and the whole situation. She still handled it with so much class and grace. She's a true hero and a role model to everyone. I will be forever thankful to have witnessed her extraordniary career. Thank to her for everythings and I wish her all the happiness for her entire life.

no, she was forced to competete in 2011 worlds. 2013 was completely voluntary because she knew younger skaters in korea had no chance of experiencing the olympics without her help. she was really stressed in 2011, but 2013 she was alive because she knew she was a big help for the younger skaters.

Dossen A Which means she is the face of women's figure skating; what all other figure skaters should try to be like; who is the best representative of the sport; whose style as determined by the ISU is the preferred style for women's figure skating. That is what winning gold at the Olympics means. So, to all the little girls out there, stop trying to be little YuNas and little Carolinas. Just jump, jump, flap your arms every once in awhile then jump, jump, and then jump jump and don't worry about anything else, and by the way, jump.

Dossen A ESPN reported Mao Asada, figure skater representing japan, is doing wrong-edge jumps; usually called the 'flutz'. Mao Asada's cheating jump was well known to figure skating officials, but this was the first time a public media reported about it. Mao Asada is also well known for her excessive pre-rotation & under rotation in her so called 'specialty' Triple Axel; which should be 3 and 1/2 rotations, but obviously under rotated when you watch her 3A in slow motion video. Mao Asada, after this report, claimed that she corrected her wrong edge jumps, however her jumps remained uncorrected till today. This video clip is continuously erased from KZfaq by false copyright claims by some extreme-nationalists from japan.

I think she was being diplomatic here and knows is she says the wrong thing OTHER people might suffer the consequences and plus she knows at the height of strong emotions it's best to sit with them awhile before saying something she might regret later. +neil adlington in my experience Korea (South obviously) is one of the more respectful countries, especially in the area of sportsmanship. I don't think she was majorly upset that she didn't win, I think it is more that they cheated so obviously in a world wide competition. sports get really stressful for the performers, and as they said her career is over, that is her last time in the olympics.

And the reason she decided to comeback in 2013 is that she got some goals for young korean skaters. in 2012 she been training not for any competition just for warming herself up watching the young girls she decided to give them a chance that they'll have an experience in the olympics because she knew she could get 2 to 3 tickets in worlds so she decided to come back to figure skating. We all know that a medal doesn't define how good of a skater you are and your quality. Adelina may have gotten a gold medal and Yuna may have gotten a silver one but it doesn't mean that Adelina is a better skater than Yuna. When Yuna skates, you can feel the emotion from her performance. Skating isn't all about points, it's about enjoying and looking at which girl is more passionate when she skates. This is my opinion and no one can take that away from me. In my eyes, Yuna skated beautifully and with so much emotion while Adelina was plain and boring. Sure her spins were faster but it wasn't better than Yuna's. I would love to see her at worlds and see her reaction to her scores because most of us know she won't get a score that high ever again where as Yuna can. Adelina didn't deserve to take first place in my opinion. Maybe second, but not first. This is the result of her own country wanting to get the gold medal so badly and now, Adelina will have to accept that fact that the only reason she got gold was because of her own country's greediness. Everybody knows that the real queen is Yuna and no medal is going to say otherwise. Proud of you Yuna! Come back to the games and show them that you are great and worthy of another gold. 사랑해

Kim Yuna definitely deserved the gold medal. It must've been hard to keep up this classy act knowing that others will suffer the consequences if she were to say anything about the robbery... Having the gold medal taken from her in such an unfair way is so sad. But it's even more emotional for her that this is her last performance in competing for figure skating... I really wish you true happiness Kim Yuna because you deserve it.

Xyniss To be fair, the writing was on the wall even before the Olympics began. Legitimate as well as illegitimate reputation is a reality in figure skating and fans of Carolina could say it was Caro's negative reputation compared to Yuna's positive one that was the difference between her taking silver or gold. However that is legitimate reputation. If everyone skates clean, Yuna wins gold. That is always how it has been and rightfully so because they both earned their respective reputations but because Yuna had rarely competed since 2010 she lost some of that "reputation" advantage and when combined with illegitimate reputation (back room machinations of the various national federations, ie, Russia) Adelina was able to squeak out the gold.
@iNikkehx333
@iNikkehx333 9 жыл бұрын
neil adlington They didn't even count the faults in her skating which was what was despicable. Instead of receiving negative points for that, she received full points for technical moves which CAN'T BE TRUE since Kim Yuna's technical moves were way better than Adelina's... It's not a matter of reputation because not many people know about Adelina and she was not even in the top 5 on the previous ice skating competition before the Olympics.. this whole thing was fixed the day that woman who had been with Adelina through all her competitions, appears to be one of the judges on the panel and also the wife of the president or the vice president who is in charge of this whole thing. I read that in the articles and it certainly points out how this whole thing was already set up..
@neiladlington950

Xyniss I can guarantee you this, if Kim competed the whole 2013-14 season the gold would have been Yuna's with the exact performances. Why? Yuna's GOE in the short skate would have been larger as the bulk of the competition would have already skated and thus the judges wouldn't have been "saving" their reward points. You should visit The Skating Lesson and hear what they have to say, specifically on how they believed the cards were stacked against her even before the Olympics began. It was like everyone in the know knew someone OTHER than Yuna was being groomed for Olympic glory. Yuna is the outsider and her Korean federation a perpetual non entity as far as how much influence they wield or ever wielded in FIGURE SKATING (my suspicion is they save that for their preeminence in speed skating (crappy sport)). Check it out www.theskatinglesson.com/tsls-2014-olympic-ladies-recap/

EMMA DILLEN Well Adelina kept saying that she won because of her extra jump. If that was the case then MAO ASADA would've beaten her in the free skate because Mao had EIGHT triple jumps and included the TRIPLE AXEL (landed successfully). Also, Adelina's score in the free skate was ridiculous considering the mistakes she made in comparison to Yuna's 2013 worlds free skate score 148. Yuna skated perfection in 2010 to score 150 whereas Adelina got 149.95 with errors? I don't understand how could she simply get that score with multiple errors. If Adelina had skated utter perfection I wouldn't complain. But considering how all the other ladies skated that night, Adelina didn't deserve that high of a score.

It breaks my heart to see her crying. I could only imagine the hardships and intensive training she has constantly been under to make her as good as she was for as long as she was. She must have been putting all the emotions aside all these years and then to finally come to the end, she finally had the moment of release of all the pain and hardships she went through to be the best in the world. Something similar happened to me; my grandma unexpectedly passed away earlier this year. Completely unexpected. It was the first time meeting her since she lived in the States and she only visited as a vacation. She got sick so quickly and spent her last days with us, and I even drove her to the hospital where she passed away. I didn't even think it could end the way it did. The next week was spent with us sorting out her funeral and it was extremely shocking. I couldn't process anything. I was finding it so hard to cry because I was so shocked. After everything had been done, she was in her resting place, and on the way home, I couldn't help but suddenly be overwhelmed by the pain and hardship of the past week and I couldn't stop crying. I literally couldn't help or stop myself. Everything was done and I was only able to release my emotions when it was all finished. Maybe you can't see the connection to the video, but seeing Yuna cry like that, I can't help but remember my own experience with loosing grandma.

Seeing her in this interview brings back terrors of that 2014 Olympic ruined the whole experience for me and I'm sure for the world, I hope these Russian so called judges are proud of themselves for what they did yeah I might sound a bit melodramatic but in these situations I think I'm entitled to, she's so gracious and taking it under the chin, but inside I'm sure she's rage quitting all the way for the way she was treated shame on them and shame on figure skating will never be the same again

I think Yuna was so relieved here. Even to execute all the jumps as planned must be hard for her. Before 2014 olympics i believe she only competed in Zagreb, and she fell a few times during that because of her foot injury. Despite all the possible setbacks, she did so well. What a legend

Is your new name "inferior bitterness and heartbreak?" To: Natasha Kern/tasha mm/ice/ Fluffymuffy Pelican/ Figure skating art/BoilingGasBaggingSchizo & NoNoNoisyBoiler183key aka bitterboi31 (all the same FakeRussian and SchizoJapanese): You are obsessed with gorgeous, stunning “all day long:jong-il” Queen Yuna who defeated Schizokova, your dragon-breath of the corrupt crabby-chubby BeBeCoinCrankyGoomba face which is a polluted waste of SocheatScandal. You have been already under the psychiatrist’s supervision in a mental institute and taking SchizoMedication called BoilingGasBaggingSchizo. In fact, as an inferiority complex with anencephaly YOU SchizoJapnese & FakeRussian needs to get over from being so disturbed by the entire world’s VOICE OF TRUTH saying that the gold medal was robbed. It is so sad. Shameful. The worldwide real genuine figure skating fans, laugh at you FakeRussian and SchizoJapanese for bad sportsmanship.

That gold medal is worthless at this point. It’s a medal and it will never define Yuna.She will always be known as the Sochi winner even though she doesn’t have the medal she earns and deserved. Yuna will always be the Olympic Sochi champion even though the Olympics didn’t give her the title. That judge should be ashamed and if one judge has a ridiculously higher score the rest of the judges then somethings wrong and it’s not hard to figure out. People have to work for that medal and Adelina most have not worked as hard as Yuna did when you compare their performances. Yuna earned it.
