If I were to choose between Jiang Chen and Wu Bosong, I'm definitely going for someone like Jiang Chen. Wu Bosong is sweet, caring, perfect boyfriend material I agree. But dude, Jiang Chen inspires the girl to achieve her dreams. Whether it's for getting in top 15 in school (because Jiang Chen told her not to go and helped her the most), repeating an year for art school (he's always been there for her), or let her publish her own comic book. If this is not true love, IDK what really is. He inspires her everyday to work hard for their goals and be independent. So out there, if you are still frustrated why she didn't end up with Second lead, please atleast don't belittle Jiang Chen's love for her. It's immense.

Surbhi Yadav they both helped xiaoxi in different ways. Bosong provided comfort, fulfilled her wishes, let her feel free and happy by doing other activities other than school. He was there when she needed someone the most. For jiangchen it’s true, he helped inspire and led xiaoxi to directions where she would be most happy in. He corrected her when she wasn’t doing the right thing (lying to seem pitiful). She had also changed and learnt by jiangchen’s personality. I would personally fall for bosong, if I were xiaoxi but I can see how both, can be great choices. Both, jiangchen and bosong aren’t perfect- they definitely have their pros and cons. Anyways, I like how you were objective though.

I super agree. Jiang Chen sacrificed a lot for Xiaoxi --- from having to write a self-criticism report, finding a way to get the lost class fees, etc. during high school, to choosing to study medicine near their hometown, letting a great opportunity to work in a hospital in Beijing pass, and many others. He is not expressive, but, you can always read in his actions just how immense his love for Xiaoxi is. Not flashy, but, very deep. :)

I agree, in my opinion Jiang Chen is more independent and mature, but that does not mean Wu Bosong is not, adult Wu bosong but too pampering, but if I am in the position of Xiaoxi I will also be confused, maybe if possible I will date Wu Bosong but marry Jiang Chen

people seem to underestimate jiang chen's love for xiaoxi, just bc he is not as expressive does not mean he does not love her. that is just his nature, he rarely shows his feelings. he gave up a huge opportunity for her when they first graduated HS and also almost gave up another huge opportunity for her during his doctor days, the only reason he went is bc she was refusing to hear him out. he even mentioned how he regretted it and came back the first opportunity he could.

I totally agree with you. Rather I think Chen Xiaoxi was always a self centred girl from the very beginning. She always thinks about her love, her feelings, her problems all the time. Even being such a cold introvert guy Jiang Chen tried so many times to communicate with her when there were misunderstandings between them. But still she was there being angry on him all these years and never tried to solve their problems. I blame Chen Xiaoxi for their break up,not Jiang Chen. Though all their friends blamed him. That's so unfair.

3 years ago, I remember how in love I am in this drama. It's always about the romantic scenes and how I fell in love with the 2nd lead. And now, it's already 2021 and I realized that this drama has a lot of lessons in life. We can see how all of them grow together throughout the year even if some of them were too far from the group. And I really adore how their friendship remain strong despite of the quarrels with some of them. A great drama indeed!!

Me for one love the love jiang Chen has for xiaoxi. It's a love that gives independence even tbough he always say she is his but we all know that's because he knows her heart and not because he is possessive of her. Jiang Chen is not good with words or actions but he always make sure that xiaoxi becomes a woman that can stand in her own. Yes wu busong loves her dearly but I can not grade their love for her. They are both trying to love her the best way they can and none is perfect with it. It's just that busong pleases her needs while jiang Chen makes her stay independent but at the end of the journey this is a matter of the heart which can not be manipulated. I love the love between the leads

Some of the comments are typical of our biases. Even though the male lead is as inexperienced as the female lead AND was left alone by him mom, because he is male, we tend to hold him to a higher level of expectation with regard to the relationship and love. He said during the confession in this scene that "everybody leaves him". He may be a genius when it comes to academics, but he is completely clueless when it comes to love. (This is like Baek Seung Jo's character in Playful Kiss and Naoki Irie"s in Itazura Na Kiss). Why do we assign more responsibility to the male when all things are the same? Yes Jiang Chen took her for granted, but he did try to come back, but there was a misunderstanding (of course, it's a drama). After 3 years, they both had grown and matured so that they could better handle their love.

What I love about this episode is how they act so manly about their emotions and still they have their characters as they are, so that I choose this episode to drop a comment. Superb! Great series!! Chinese series is indeed great for showing childhood sweethearts, old-school memories, student's love in beautiful ways!!! I love each moments of the friendship here, how they try to be there for their friends and soothe the problem that exists. What did I do to deserve watching this great drama? Thank you, Lord. 😇

The drama was not changed, but the meaning of this in one person can change because of their experiences. The drama is beautiful…how the development of the individuals in all aspects is unfolded. This episode invites viewers to understand the dynamics of the relationships among the characters involved, which goes back from their teens and now into their young adult life. One can see how intensely the love of couples as well as the love of the group of close friends interact with time and events. Growth carries with it a lot of PAIN. Personally, I admire all these FIVE… I would put Jiang Chong and Wu Bosong on the same level. Both truly love the same friend, only they have different ways of loving. Great episode!
