[Eng] Ucchi's English skills are put to the test (ft. Tosshi)

This was recorded on Ucchi's birthday and the cast celebrated it with him! Since it's one of his dreams to be a soccer star in Europe, the cast invited a foreigner (Carmilia-) to their studio. He was given 3 missions to complete to prepare him for when he lives abroad to fulfil his dream. It's really all for fun so it does seem quite ridiculous XD
This is from one of their radio show episodes, dated back in August 2012! I know it's really old but I stumbled upon this clip and I thought it was really fun to watch so I decided to sub it~

I agree, Ucchi has better pronunciation than most japanese people, with more practice he might become pretty good at it. Also, can I give him a shoulder massage? He must be stiff from carrying the whole industry

Carmilia should've known she's playing with the two weakest seiyuus of the industry. No doubt they would be screaming "softly, softly!" 😂 And Ucchi and Tosshi duo is the best duo, in my opinion

yessss agree with you 10000 ucchi and toshi are the best duo. it's like whenever ucchi is with toshi it's guaranteed that ucchi will have a laughing fit 🤣

Ucchi's English is actually really good! (compared to others') Most of his grammars and pronunciations are on point, very minimal jp accent. And his english understanding is good too!👍

i think at the massage part, ucchi was worried about overstepping Carmilia's boundaries? he said "セクハラ" (sekuhara) which iirc is the japanese term for s*xual h*r*ssment so he was worried that the word he was looking up in the dictionary was going to have a meaning similar to that 😅

Among Japanese, I’d say his English was quite good. Merely just my assumption, but perhaps he could survive if he went traveling in English-speaking countries.

@@leo08__04 Hahaha. I really like salty food, when i order in fastfood chains like Mcdo, i ask for salt to use for my food and it's in packets. And they usually give more than i need, so i store it in my bag. 😂

This is the first time I hear Kouki-san speak in english. He’s actually good. The pronunciation, his L’s is actually better than other Japanese people. Just a little practice will make him fluent in english. 🤩🤩 I was smiling and laughing while watching the whole vid. 😂😂 I can imagine his expression when he asked her why does she have salt 1:32 😂😂😂😂

ucchi yelling "softly softly please" is truly messing with my mind hfidjdksj. this is such a fun ep!!! i also noticed that whenever ucchi is with toshi hes always laughing in a carefree way 😭 like hes so comfortable if it's toshi 😭 also im happy that ucchi got to play soccer! i remembered that one radio he did he said he really liked soccer 🤣

If this was recorded in 2012, I wonder how much Ucchi has improved his English now? He's the second seiyuu I know who can communicate in English, the first was Murase Ayumu.

It's one thing to understand what someone is saying in a different language and respond to them. It's another to be able to translate back what the other person's saying back to your native tongue so your fellow seiyuu can understand too. Kouki Uchiyama's proven himself fairly proficient with English. He even introduced himself in English to a Soul Eater con when he voiced Soul back in 2008! (Imagine being 16-17 and getting a main role in an anime after gaining traction as Roxas!) Chiaki Omigawa (Maka) was with him (probably not understanding a word he was saying) so all she could do was "yay!" *peace signs* But I wonder if he was nervous here. His voice is higher than usual! Thanks for translating!

Ucchi went to Waseda University which is a private and well known Uni in Japan, quite hard to get into apparently. He's smart

Reminded me of my JP friend who wanted me to help him practice EN. Usually the conversation goes: "Hi what's your name?" "Where are you from?" "Ah, cool!" and that's it. wkwkwkwkw So the fact that Ucchi went on longer is amazing!

Their laughter is giving me life! Ucchi is waaay more energetic when he was younger. XD People who only knew him recently thinks he's usually uninterested or bored. LoL. But I think he actually has a very fun personality.

I guess that's what aging does to you HAHAH but jokes aside, I agree! Whether it's when he's younger or now, he has a fun personality and it just depends on who's he with that he'll show it more. I might be biased with these two, but he's always more cheery when he's with Tosshi, it's a joy to see 💞
