The rechargeable version was a big step up from the version one and version 2. The best advice is get an air stone that produces fine bubble

I emailed Engel a couple of weeks ago with the same issues reguarding the noising aerator pump that came with the cooler. I also purchased the new Lithium powered pump. Great mod for attaching the pump to the cooler I'll use it for sure. All they said was if I was uphappy I could return it, not the point. You nailed it.

Just a tip, the 12v Power Bubbles, you can run on USB 5v. However, I run it through a USB>9v. I can get about 3 hours out of a 7800mAH power bank battery. I made it so I can change connectors on mine. I got the clamps, a cigarette lighter, a USB>9/12v adapter, and also one with ring terminals to connect to a small 12v battery. It'll still produce lot more bubbles than the others at 9v.
