Firstly the diagram shown in this video is wrong..since cladophora is not a plant it's a filamentous alage .it is placed in a tray filled a suspension of aerobics bacteria.so that they collect around the region where o2 is evolved...it's nice that u asked this doubt orelse noone would have noticed this issue..
