P9 is total pressure and it is almost the same as P8 (a bit less due to the pressure loss in the nozzle).

If I understood AgentJayZ's video correctly, then, given your diagram numbers, the EPR should be P8/P3 (maybe P8/P2), because both P1 and P9 should be close to ambient pressure and would not produce a useful EPR.

@@Kargoneth if the exhaust nozzle is choked, P9 will be above atmospheric pressure and the “choked nozzle thrust” will be An x (P9 - P1), where An is the cross sectional area of the nozzle.

What devices are used to measure these pressures? I'm thinking probes installed in the engine inlet?

Very clear explanation, but is it not usually P2 (compressor inlet Pressure) as opposed to P1?

This engine has more stages so the names here are different but it’s is essentially the same as P5/P2 ie the ratio of LP Turbine exhaust Pressure to Engine Inlet Pressure.
