I love soft and floaty cars, I don’t want to feel the road and all the road imperfections on my drive home. The trend towards stiff bumpy riding luxury vehicles has ruined the meaning of what true comfort really is, and that is complete isolation from the road.

Agreed. Automotive journalism has driven luxury to a ridiculous Nurburgring goal. Just makes me sick. If I am buying a luxury car I want a smoothe float on hwy and if I want a nurburgring performer, I buy a sports car.

@@nosoupforyou425 I think you will really like the range rover l460 and the previous l405 even more than the lexus lx. The previous gen rangie was like a boat. It had I think softest suspension. It nosedived the most. Thats why the royal family loves it though. Lexus lx is not behind either.

Well, it feels like a sports car behind the wheel. It’s luxurious at the same time. It is packed with the punch of one for sure. Don’t let that “Soccer Mom van” fool you as I’ve been told it is. I don’t mind being called a soccer Mom van driver. It’s luxury at its finest. You definitely need to drive it daily to gain the respect for it. Lincoln nailed this ride. ♥️

How is the suspension and engine noice in the cab??? I am in the market for a luxury SUV and Aviator is in my top 3 currently, but I hear you feel bumps in the road, engine noise is a little on the louder side, and the steering isn't very responsive..............or am I just getting fake news lol

I think this is a step in the right direction for Lincoln. I love the looks of this SUV. I think American luxury SUVs still have some ground to cover when it comes to foreign automakers like Lexus and MB. With the push for more eco-friendly vehicles and EVs and the constant changes automakers aw making with their cars due to this push, it’s hard to nail down a platform that will work and drive sales. When I look at luxury I want comfort and style, not sportiness. The Aviator is what I call luxury.

Thanks for the great review!! I just purchased a 2022 Aviator Reserve and have had two unfortunate paint issues that have required having the vehicle to be repainted and "blended" twice. They desperately need better "quality control" at their Chicago Assembly plant for these paint issues should have been easily caught during or after production. I bought the Aviator after purchasing a 2020 Ford Explorer ST with shares the exact same engine. The engine is incredible, but I wanted more luxury which the Aviator provides in spades! I looked hard at many of the foreign options, but felt the Aviator provided similar luxury with a much better engine and a better price. The 4-Yr./50,000 mile Warranty was also a nice bonus!

You may not see this it’s been so long, but I’m trying to find out if anyone had a paint issue with the Aviator. I’m looking at a 2023, and all the cars on the lot had these weird dirt looking streaks going down the sides and back. I’ve never seen it before. The salesman (of course) said they just needed to be washed, but um no. I also saw it on a few of the 2023 Explorers, so I’m wondering if it is a new Ford paint problem. Haven’t seen it on other cars I’ve looked at that we’re also sitting in lots. Any thoughts?

Very good and honest review. We’ve had 2 previous Lincoln Town Cars that we’ve greatly enjoyed precisely because they are big, solid, and smooth. We’ve just ordered a new ICE 2024 Lincoln Aviator Reserve with all the options in flight blue with a sandstone interior. We live in Alaska where it should be even better than our Town Cars for many obvious reasons. Instead of buying it cash, we’re doing something innovative by leasing it for 4 years and investing in Tesla stock to allow EV Elon to pay for our likely last ICE ride after 60 years of large comfortable ICE rides … a delicious ironic chuckle for sure. Thanks, Elon. Lincoln … Great Cars, Tesla … Great Stock!

I’m going to be buying one but will skip the magnetic ride and Air suspension and just get the 20” wheels with the higher profile tires. I worry about costs of maintaining these expensive systems. There seems to be a trend in the automotive world towards lager and larger rims with ultra low profile tires. Sure they look cool because there is lots of rim and not a lot of tire. I’m not a fan when it comes time to replace them. The sidewalls on these low profile tires has limited ability to absorb big potholes without crushing a rim and the ride sucks too, why spend the money other than improved handling and ride?

I'm in the process of buying a '22 Aviator. I like a lot about it but my two biggest issues are the stuck on the dashboard infotainment. Looks like no one could figure out what to do with it so they just stuck it there. The other issue is the lack of a shifter. I just don't care for those buttons. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to getting my car.

With the turbos do you think they will have a shorter trouble free life, large 6 or 8's seem to be less trouble prone then smaller turbo engines. I want to add that the.Aviator is on my short list. The Navigator was my top choice until they dropped the 8.

The Lincoln Aviator is a great designed vehicle just poor execution. There are numerous owners with multiple issues and will never buy or recommend again. I'm sure if you lease or get an extended warranty then perhaps you'll save yourself that headache if it doesn't occur with lower mileage. I do like that it's rwd bias and offers plenty of power. Definitely a better alternative to the police friendly explorer. For my money the Navigator offers more room for the same price. If you must have a rwd bias 7+ seater luxury vehicle that fits in this niche then I'd recommend the BMW X7.

seems most people that have issues with the Aviator fall into one of two categories, or in some cases both. first one is the first 1 or 2 years this car was out, the initial batches had some teething pains. Ford seems to have gotten a handle on that and was aggressive to ensure the corrections were made. the second category of problem vehicles is from the overly equipped models with excessive and likely unneeded tech. Every review I have read about the Aviator suggest not to go higher than the "reserve". they have two levels of reserve and for me, I can easily live with the "reserve 1". But if you want heads up display and a few other things, you could opt for the Reserve 2. but i wouldn't go any higher than that if reliability is primary concern as it is with me.

@@AutomotivePressHello! First up… Great balanced review!! Secondly, could not understand why Jeep Grand Cherokee is a better vehicle given that it has greater incidence of breakdowns and a not so reputed engine.. Only their Summits have good interiors and they are insanely expensive.. maybe slightly better off road and a signature look and loyal fan following but i feel they feed off the logo name and Wrangler reputation.. I felt the fit and finish of interior panels weren’t all that good but they admittedly looked fantastic in the camel color… To pay so much just for the interior, I might as well spend on the BMW which has more snob value!!!

With Lincoln and probably a lot of other makes as well, the key is not buy the totally larded up tech packages as thats usually whats buggy and people have issues with. Most of the poor customer reviews come from folks who bought all the bells and whistles. People who have the lower trim levels have less issues and the car will cost significantly less. Its almost futile to attempt to compare these kinds of issues. Everytime i try to do that, I might find a significant issue with a Ford that might be costly to fix that Toyota doesn't have. then when i do a deep dig on the comparable toyota, I will often times find that while they don't have the same issue as the ford, they might have some other issue of their own thats worse than the ford. I just get the feeling of "chasing my tail" when I go down that rabbit hole to compare Ford to Toyota and so on. the best that you can do these days is to see the car is basically sound with no major red flags. this reviewer addressed all points from an engineers perspective. So for me, I feel the Aviator is hard to beat if not equipped with excessive high tech gadgetry
@JasPlun
@JasPlun 5 ай бұрын
In that case I look at the data that shows Toyotas by far have had much better results and yes I know they have had their bad designs like everyone else, but they also have shown they are fast to fix those issues and seem to always stand behind what they built. I do not see that in Ford or GM. I am an old Ford Loyal buyer in the early 90's and late 80's. I have owned many Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, and Nissan products through the years and its a no contest the Toyota and Nissans(pre-CVT) were always my best experiences. @@robertharte1943
