InfraSpace part 15 is where I start to make my colony more efficient, before max upgrading all my residential buildings and thinking outside the box to create a a super uber mega bridge for my new railway line!

My favourite part of every InfraSpace episode has thus become Matt explaining once again how the habitats upgrade, nice little bit of consistency

I’ve noticed when playing this game that if you build a lot of buildings at one time that use a resource that you have surplus of, it floods the roads with traffic. The same occurs when you build a lot of habitats. So, build fewer at a time and that won’t strain your road infrastructure as much.

16:00 traffic jams like this always happen when you build a lot of new buildings all at once. you create a surge in traffic as all those new buildings are requesting resources and then you end up grid locked

The next episode of this would benefit from some good old traffic engineering. I would love to hear you talk about how well, or not, this game simulates traffic and road usage.

I disagree. Go watch Kibitz or people who do the nitty gritty efficient and over the top designs that min/max the game. I watch the RCE to see someone play these games in a fun way and not such a boring and meticulous way.

It's usually the other way around. He gets bored with engineering sensible solutions, and comes up with insane architecture that looks cool but doesn't function efficiently. That's half the appeal.

It was really satisfying seeing you fulfilling the demand of things. It's a shame that the traffic ended up jammed, but I'd really enjoy seeing you do this more often. It is nice to see everything in the city being supplied

Something important to remember with this game is that the needed production number is based on all buildings, not just one that are currently linked up.

Maybe you should consider putting more time in managing traffic since it makes you problems every time you add something bigger. Like line numbers of roads (see merge in gwagon area)

Hey Matt, have you been zoning each of the areas? I haven't seen much in the videos but maybe they're happening in between scene cuts. That way you can make sure that you're really directing where specific resources go, rather than it just being a all-over-the-map free for all.

he has done *some* zoning at least, i think. he's shown us him telling production areas where to supply to once or twice. P.S.: although that second sentence is quite painful to read, i am fairy confident that it has no grammatical errors.

RCE was a drain and pipe guy in his past. That's right. A professional. Dare we say expert. But in real life. Whereas in games, if it involves pipes or drains, put on your hazmat life preserver. he is hopeless, and forgiven, because we love the wet carnage.

If the path is long, make a storage at the DESTINATION. Then while new stuff is on the road, supply is filled from the buffer. When supply is satisfied, the remaining cars on the road refill the buffer.

At my job, we were working with a 3rd party to run ethernet for one of the clients we support. They did an absolutely terrible job running cable. During a meeting where there were 3 people from our office and 6 people from our client's office we were discussing the terrible job the contractor did and without thinking I said, "They ran wiring like a bunch of architects." Everyone looked confused except for one guy from our client's office who laughed his ass off. Turns out, another RCE fan. It was fun explaining to everyone else what was so funny.

Maybe you should create a kind of nearby city that fulfills itself with jobs and workers, so the traffic is not all jammed in your main city. You could perhaps build a city all focused on doing research in a very efficient way, so the traffic will be all about research things and will not be mixed with good meals, which would cause a decrease in the delivery speed

Semi Late and Late inits are probably parts of the program which need other things to load first because they use them somehow - a mod is probably late init because it depends on the game being loaded

I've played this game for a while now, I have a population of about 4k but I keep getting traffic jams then everything downgrades... I need more ring roads, and/or separate industrial areas from the living areas. Also, my main issue is a 5fps framerate...
