I had to move countries and design an entirely new valve for it, but successfully built a tiny, working, webshooter that can hold a person's full weight!

@@Built_IRL Organic Shooters are more reliable, Mechanical Shooters are more adaptable. In the 2017 Spiderman animated series we saw both Mechanical and Organic shooters in use. Peter and Miles use mechanical shooters after being bitten. Anya and Gwen used organic ones after being temporarily exposed to an Air-borne Spider Virus along with the entire city (it was a whole thing), they were the only ones to keep their spider powers. Cindy uses organic shooters which is weird since she was bitten by the same spider as Peter, Miguel uses organic shooters according to comics and Venom creates his own strands.

Or maybe, because it’s a movie, they can just make it work with your mind. So you can’t accidentally set it off because it shoots when you want it to shoot. It’s not like they NEED a mechanically accurate device that works exactly how we would make it irl
@soviut303
@soviut303 5 ай бұрын
@@PtylerBeats I know it isn't necessary, but comics and movies often go into detail on mechanical plausibility. For example, they'll show how Wolverine's claws work in an X-ray, or Tom Holland's costume will have arm bands a button in each palm. What I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised if a comic artist picks this up and runs with it as an official way for one of the spiderman variants to shoot webs.

@@Spooderman-2099 in their own way, they're very good, I agree. But the size of them is massive. With BuiltIRL's ones, they're very small, and don't damage the item they're attaching to, they just wrap round. Plus as I say, the size to strength ratio here is so much better. Plus the possibility of this becoming a 'real' way for it to work, are much higher in my eyes

There is no adhesive strong enough to hold a human, especially during a swing, the point of having a grappling rope is to provide a secure and reliable connection, if you added something sticky to it, it wouldn't work, it would just stick to itself during the launch or even if it did stick to stuff it wouldn't be able to hold any weight
@SamLeroSberg
@SamLeroSberg 5 ай бұрын
@@TheRealestBubby Well. In my mind, the swinging is fiction. But the slinging webs to the faces of bad guys? Yeah that's rad.
@Built_IRL
@Built_IRL 5 ай бұрын
Maybe! I think the two big challenges with that are the size of each web, and having it stick quickly and securely without being able to press down the hot glue pad at a distance. So I'll tackle my remaining issues, and if Joel can solve his too then we'll be in business!
@AmanStudios
@AmanStudios 5 ай бұрын
@@SamLeroSberg Thats awesome to hear! I was also thinking instead of having multiple shots wouldn’t it be better if you could just retract the web after each shot and therefore have infinite swings? The motor wouldn’t have to be strong enough to hold your weight, just enough to retract the rope.

It's so neat that you are fast approaching a functional design that's so similar to the original, while basically inventing stuff to make it work. I can even see hook chain being used in rescue. Like, why no? Small, portable, reliable, resistant. On an alt universe version of spiderman had a gun in one of his web launchers, and it really reminded me of the way that valve shot the metal, too. It kills me that some videos get a ton of views while not making anything other than a toy, that you can get in amazon, and a a good thumbnail, but this didn't yet break 1M with how amazing the tool you made is.

Wow, I didn’t think it could be made that small. Really impressive design! I’m surprised by how powerful that valve is

This is so cool. Building a launcher strong enough is seriously a big chunk making real comic webshooters. Can't wait for your next video

This is awesome! A lot of the comic-made-real content on KZfaq these days is more for show, but this is actual groundbreaking engineering that really works. Fantastic job!

The way you pull the string to activate the webshooter still being the classic hand position genuinely blew my mind

The valve you made should be patented. I'm sure there's a market for that.

It is genuinely beautiful that the solution to the trigger loop issue involves the "Spider-Man hand"

I love how much effort you put in to your videos! As a fan of spider-man and science, this is f*cking awesome! This is the closest thing to web shooters i’ve seen on the internet (y’know, besides actual spider-man). Love that you need to pose your hand in order to shoot it.
