In this guide we will be discussing the Shaper end-game boss and strategies for defeating him. He is one of the most difficult encounters in the game and requires a lot of skill to defeat, but today, we are going to take him down exile!

3.0 Updates: Shaper can now be shocked and chilled. However, he is still immune to Freeze and cannot be completely slowed. 1. The Critical Strike Multiplier is 1.3x (Made a mistake on calculations) 2. The Shaper's Teleport Slam deals ~10,000 - 12,000 Physical Damage. (This will still be deadly for most builds) 3. The Shaper Clone can stay up for some of the Portal move, and has the ability to kill Zana. 4. It can be useful to have a totem, golem or skill setup with a Culling Strike Gem to finish Phase Three faster. Thanks for all the support!

Thank you so much for this guide! I made my first Shaper fight and killed with only two deaths. Now, in 3.7, i feel that some things changed, but nothing to huge to make this guides useless. I never made to many progress in PoE and i consider myself too small, however, each step, a big victory! Thanks again ^^. And yes, i used a Vaal ancestral warchief to finish the fight XD.

A little recommendation: when you cover most of the topics you want to cover on POE, try making guides in this manner for other games. If you can make this your full time job include some kind of show that is different from guides only. It will sky rocket your subs and views.

Great video as always! One thing to note though, Fortify does not reduce damage from all sources, only from hits. So damage over time (in this fight, the shaper's beam) is not mitigated with it.

I'll put the 4/5 for this guide, pretty good for new newbies that don't want to get wasted on sets but still want to try end game content. To make it 5/5 you had to make the full description of clone phase. When he summons the clone you can focus on dodging to survive since the clone have DURATION. That's very important point bcoz clone phase is most deadly for any player. Also, you had to add for this phase that you have to be extremely attentive to beams bcoz they can cover any other skill such as yellow balls that deal 6500 dmg or vortex balls that can rip the fight if you catch them in the middle. And also sometimes fight bugs and shaper's clone kills zana and you will have to deal with portal's minions on your own but she will always reappear for the bullet hell. Hope this helps, thanks again for good guide (p.s. you were forgiven for this mistype for 2.3 instead of 1.3 crit mult but I would like to see video to be added with my tips and the mistake fixed for 5/5)

Great Guide only thing a little off is Zana doesnt creat the shield in BulletHell she is only extending it to protect the Player but she ALWAYS has this Shield in the Shaper Realm .

@@diegobas852 Yea I lost to shaper first time I did him, then watched this guide, I suppose I was just nervous the first time, but I kept having those vortex balls hit me in the middle where Zana stands, so whenever she needed to protect me, I had those balls on the ground doing massive damage. Thanks to guide I pop them on the outskirts, didnt die at all to shaper 2nd attempt thanks to this guide.

@@diegobas852 I like the guide but I have burned a few sets trying to do my own first shaper, in my case though I have a hard time dieing to things I have already dodged... I fiddled a bit with switching between predictive networking and lockstep (I always played on predictive because its smooth) and lockstep really showed how laggy it was... my character was stuttering when moving around. :/

4:14 Fortify is a buff that grants the player 20% reduced damage taken from hits for 4 seconds.[1] This does not apply to damage over time, since it does not hit.

+Gabri Block can be useful yes, however many of his hits deal heavy damage and chance based defense can and will fail. So ensure to have enough other mitigations such that you can survive a failed block or dodge.

Shaper also cannot be taunted. That's important for Champion builds that rely on taunt for extra damage and damage mitigation

tried shaper for the first time yesterday... loose all portals in phase one, as I deal not enough dmg and didn't know the vortex mechanics, all was coverd with vortexes. with perfect movement my build could manage it i guess, but before the next try I will tweak around some stuff.

Iv killed the Shaper many times and I find the RNG needs to be fixed, im talking about Votex balls spawning in side the zana bubble at the start of the bullet hell, you have no time to react to it and its 90% a dud run, you can then sometimes port into the room after a death only to be insta killed by the beam or shaper slam, this is due to a old bug with PoE not rendering effect after a spawn in.

killed my 1st shaper ever in harbinger and have killed dozens since and I have a tip which is not in the video. If a vortex spawns close to you when the bullethell move is active, it is possible to kite the vortex ball inside the bubble by just moving in a small circle and then after taking it to the edge of the arena.

Rather unrelated comment, but: One of the Hardest boss areas I faced was in a twinned overgrown ruin. There as a warband guy with a chaos-like searing bond that would deal maybe 3500-4500 DPS even with my 75% capped chaos resistance. The problem was the fact that because it was a twinned map, there were others there too, including someone making all the ground frozen all the time, and the normal/common spectral throw and call-elements skills guy. The most annoying part is that these totems from the "searing bond" seemed to have as much health as like a guardian or shaper, and would block your path from moving around. Between that and the small debris-filled landscape of the arena, and the frozen ground, it just made it so difficult to avoid the lethal damage. Vaal Pact would probably be able to out-DPS if he stood still dealing lots of damage (although VP is pretty OP), but my Slayer leech (around 2500 life per second was quite useless). mod-wise fighting a hard boss when you have no leech and no regen is absolutely nasty. Thankfully both Über Atziri and Shaper can't have any nasty mods like that.

11:11 , about the vortex ball DOT. 3800 after res and reductions is like 850 (with my build). but when im standing in it i still get degen, even with like ~1.4k regen. how is that?

been fighting shaper for over 2 leagues now and until watching this video had no idea the degen balls activated when you got near them on the edges, I always thought they were timed releases kinda like uber fight.

My only issue with this guide is that he details the outdated lore, cause now the Shaper's lore is different! Otherwise excellent guide, cause this detail _totally_ has an impact on the fight, of course! ^_
