@@vinylhorror There was blood on his knee. He could not continue. The problem was that the referee did not even check his knee at first and let the match continue. Then Rios himself thought he could continue, but then went down and had to be taken off on a stretcher. You could see the blood on his knee. He is an important player for Colombia. If he could not play, he could not play. Why would he fake a substitution, especially in the 61st minute? I do not agree with the OP's sarcastic comment though, if that makes you feel better.

I think I know the reasons. He played for my team (Coventry) in England and was absolute dogshite. Really bad. He got upset and blamed others for his shocking performances. Looks like the experience never left him.

You could just see the intensity of the players in the Colombia v. Uruguay game - just the look on their faces throughout the match. You could see Coach Lorenzo telling them to calm down. Take a breath. Very intense match on a hot night.

Who remembers Colombia coach Nestor Lorenzo from the 1990 World Cup Final? When two Argentina players (Monzon, Dezotti) were sent off and the game ended we saw crying, bleeding Nestor Lorenzo exiting the field in the TV cameras. He was a reserve defender in that team when half of their players were suspended. He definitely has no good memories from the major finals LOL.

Well the penalty - Rules set by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) The rule states: “It is committed with an opponent nearby and prevents the opponent from playing the ball for fear of injury. “Playing in a dangerous manner involves no physical contact between the players. If there is physical contact, the action becomes an offence punishable with a direct free kick or PENALTY KICK.” “In the case of physical contact, the referee should carefully consider the high probability that misconduct has also been committed.” .....don't hate the player hate the game lol

@FernandoRodriguez-pj5uh I totally agree with you , England's football under GS has been unwatchable rubbish until the first half of the semi. Also, I agree that luck has played a big part. But you've also have to appreciate the skill in the finishes of Bellingham, Saka, & Watkins. And, there is a real depth of talent in the Englands squad. I'm also with you regarding GS. He never got the England job on merit, but somehow, has stumbled ,fumbled & fallen upwards in reaching two Euro finals.

@manan612 That maybe be, but set pieces & individual magic is what England have relied on so far in the tournament. England have the players to play good offensive football, but the current manager hasn't been able to produce any in the last 8 years. Spain have played the best football by far in the Euros, but England will give them a good game on Sunday.

I don’t get the love for Bielsa Ball. His style looks AMAZING against small teams, but every time Bielsa ball has come up against an organized, talented team, his game plan falls apart. The only time Argentina hasn’t made it out of the group stage in the World Cup since 1974 was with Bielsa… and as Mosse said, his trophy case is looking pretty bare.

I think I got the gist the other day. The Dallas Cowboys (presumably the fans) seem to have the reputation of thinking they have a divine right to win, and an over inflated opinion of their team. The supposed similarity with England is based on the error that the opinions that appear in the English media are shared by "all the fans." Firstly a ridiculous generalisation, no two fans think the same thing, and secondly it's completely inaccurate anyway. When in conversation with several folk who had jumped to this wrong conclusion, I asked them if they recognised any of the team names written on the England flags in the stadium during games. No Man City or Arsenal in sight, and no, they'd not heard of Rochdale or Stockport County before. These people are happy to be there, have zero expectations of winning. You'd be hard pressed to find one England fan who is older than 8 who expects England to win tournaments, never mind "all of us". It's a shame when the truth isn't as exciting or exactly as you want it to be, but when has that ever mattered when you've got an axe to grind and a story to peddle?

Colombian is a NATIONALITY NOT a race. Approximately 25 percent of Colombians are WHITE,YES, WHITE. The rest are mestizo, mulatto, zambo and indigenous. It is about time people correct that stupid mistake. Hispanic Latino is a CULTURE and like Melissa, there are MILLIONS who happen to be white.
