England travel ‘green list’ to include 12 countries

Күн бұрынIf you are holding out the prospect of a foreign getaway then from May 17th people in England can now travel to 12 countries on the “green list” without having to quarantine upon return.

These include Portugal, Israel, Australia and that tourist hotspot, the South Sandwich Islands. A gold star for anyone who can find them on a map.
The Transport Secretary also announced that people who've had both doses of a Covid vaccine will be able to use the NHS app to show their fully vaccinated status.

Is that the NHS England app, or the NHS Scotland app ??? I had my first jab in Scotland.....very straightforward as a temporary resident, and when I returned to England was initially turned away from my long term doctors and told to phone 119 !!! After much phone calling and emailing, this was sorted out, but I have it by email that NHS England and Scotland do not talk to each other. I don’t hold out much hope for the NHS app.

The fact that Ascension/St Helena/Falkland Islands and especially Tristan da Cunha and South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands are on the green list doesn't really make a difference so the list is actually 7 countries

It’s criminal. I just worked out it costs at least another £500 in test costs just to take a holiday. A test to get in the country you visit, a test to get back in to the UK and then 2 more tests on return. Unreal. Who can afford to go abroad now. It’s not fair.

A plane full of people returning from Gibraltar have been told to isolate due to the delta variant being detected on numerous passengers. Why is Gibraltar still on the green list? Is it incompetence?

The list is a joke. It is OK to travel half way across the world from Australia/NZ with a stop off in Asia, but you can't drive over to France. Also, if you go to Gibraltar, I am sure there are hordes of Spaniards who cross the border every day to work there. Why not let people simply go to Spain? Oh, and Portugal, wasn't their health system at breaking point recently when they were flying out patients to Germany? A country, incidentally, with a fine health service and next to no Indian variant. It is all very fishy!

The UK channels reporting on this are all giving their opinions but don't even bother leading with the list the of the 12 countries. No fear actual the facts would be included in the story... A pinch of information with a spoon full of opinion is modern media, no wonder so many ppl are turning away from it.

Is there a side effects of my vaccine in understanding news but they have just shown few restrictions lifted, explained again light system and... turned narration into vaccine of pregnant woman? How about e.g more info about driving to EU or something more related to main topic.

Vaccinated against the three Indian variants and the UK one, but the countries have to be safe, I doubt the Brits are, as current vaccines are not effective?

If l had almost-guaranteed sunshine (AND temperatures) here in the UK as l would have down in the Mediterranean then yes, l'd be happy to stay at home

The US is doing excellently with vaccines, probably better than the UK, but cases per capita are still around 4 times higher than in the UK at 13.6 cases per 100k. Not high by any means but I guess the government is being very cautious. Just a matter of time though fingers crossed it'll be some time this summer.

@@Obi_boy Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are part of China no matter what. Like Canary Islands, Balearic Islands or Catalonia belong to Spain. Like Gibraltar or Fakland Islands belong to the UK. Like Corsica and Alsace belong to France. Like Sicily or Sardegna belong to Italy etc etc...

Israel is the only country on green list accepting tourist but only if you are part of a tour group, so no solo travellers

@@candy_floss333 Gibraltar too, although I’m not sure if it’s a country in the conventional sense. Don’t even need a PCR test to get into Gib.

@@candy_floss333 Yep, UK tourists don’t need a PCR test from the 17th of May as-well (vaccine or no vaccine). It’s a really nice place to visit, just quite pricey.
