Our English Cocker Spaniel was perfect - almost, because he lived only 17 years. He was a family member. We learned a LOT from him. He was like the warm morning sun on a cold winter day. He loved playing on the obstacle course. He loved every living creature. Of course we miss him greatly.

Excellent video, thank you!. My Golden English Cocker Spaniel is my closest companion. He understands about 80 to 100 human words, is very docile and loves children. He does bark a bit too much, but this is one of his modes of communication. His tail wagging will tell you more about what he is trying to say. When someone sneezes in the house, he goes quickly to find shelter (probably one of his mother''s teachings to protect himself against kennel cough). But when I sneeze or I do not feel well, he runs to me and lays down across my chest. Fonzie is 9 years old and has been socialized with other dogs but failed his primary school/training exam when he was much younger. Cockers are strong-minded! If you want this dog as a companion, he/she will expect lots of affection and presence from you and will give you the same in return. When you travel away from home, he may abstain from feeding himsels for days and sits on your porch waiting for your return. It will be a feast when you return--be prepared! This type of dog sheds periodically quite a bit, twice a year, and will need frequent groomings and good food. He/she will follow you wherever you are, seldom further away than one step, even to your shower or bathroom. He/she will predict what your next move will be in the house or outside but will follow you, never running ahead of you, after having read in your eyes, understanding your body language and becoming familiar with your routine. It is very hard for an owner of a Cocker to not indulge in anthropomorhism, accepting that his /she is a fabulous animal and very sensitive companion but not a human being, but he/she will try everything to make you believe and act as he/she is one.

We just got an adorable English Cocker Spaniel from Planned Pethood. This poor dog had come out of a puppy mill and has had very little in the way of socialization. She was actually afraid of grass, has to be potty trained and trained to walk with a leach. It has been about a month since we got her and boy has she come a long way. We love her dearly and look forward to have many happy years with her. I have never loved a dog so much!!!

Did bight me a few years ago because i think i got a little too close (pack leader competition). The girls and all the neighbours particularly girls and ladies love her like i do. Dances for treats (spins and hops). Had Tetanus before two years old and survived. So worth it. Not recommended if they are going to be left alone during the day. First cocker lived to 13 years and died of Cancer of the spleen.

I have one. Charlie. He's 6 months old and he's always on the go. Fantastic colour and very friendly. He obeys basic commands like sit , lie down , walkies. When I get him away into the countryside , let him off the lead and he is fine. He may go 50 yards from me at most but comes back when I call him. His road sense is non existent. He sees people across the road and being the friendly dog he is , he wants to go and introduce himself. On the streets , I have to keep him on the lead at all times. He seems to have no fear of cars. Any tips on training him on road sense would be great . I know he's curious and energetic , will he grow out of it ?

We have problem in training her to do her needs on the hygiene pad or outside though. She tears the pad to pieces everytime! And even if you take her out for a walk, she sometimes do it but often times she does it at our balcony when we get back! 😡 now that makes us desperate! I'll tell you now, definitely not a dog breed for first time owners. They're wee bastards to train when they're puppies 😂 They rip up everything and pee EVERYWHERE, but once they're all trained up they're the honestly some of the best dogs ever. They're so kind and loving and show a lot of affection, they like their cuddles and sleep but they do need a lot of play time. 💓

*ALTERNATIVE DOGS FOR FIRST TIME OWNERS THAT ARE ALL GOOD W CHILDREN:* - Golden Retrievers - Border Collies (Personal Preference 💓) - Bichon Frises - Labradors - Boxers - Beagles - Collies Also, if you're looking to add a cat to a house that already has dogs or children or both, go for a Maine Coon. They're very easy to train, have good temperaments and very affectionate. (They're also very fluffy and soft)

Actually all it takes is time and treats. My ella was my first dog, and training her was really simple. Potty training was easy, just gotta take them out to let their energy out amd lots of play time. She goes out twice a day plays with her squeaky ball, stops, uses the bathroom and continues on. Its all about dedicating time to them. Shes not even a year old yet.

Honestly I think there will be other dogs better suited to your current life style - cockers are energetic dogs, they do best with more space (and ideally a garden). They also don’t thrive when left alone for hours at a time. I feel your pain though, I would love one but live in an apartment and go out to work, so I have a cat instead.

Love my year old cocker but i highly suggest not to get this breed if you have childrens as they will get bitten. Also they require alot of exercise, alot. Are also prone to thinking they are the boss. Keep them off the bed and couches, leave them comfortable spots (bed/blanket) around the house and let them be when they are there relaxing. Overall really sweet and loyal dogs but require alot of discipline and limiting their freedom in the house. Cocker rage thing is rare and exaggerated but they are sensitive and can be very snappy if they feel the anxiety of their owners. Also very prone to separation anxiety. Im no expert so make your own research if you were considering this breed with children especially. Also thanks for these videos about Lennox. I appreciated watching the puppy ones when I was shopping..really fell im love with the breed. Merci

It depends on a dog not on a breed, for example mine loves kids, and he doesn't he is a boss he acts like a part of a family. He has his own box bed where he loves to sleep, and off course he loves to sit next to someone in a day. He is just 3 years old, a lot of energy when hes out, but inside the house he behaves. He also listen when you tell him something, he is very smart.
