I really like this translation. While the original is about a child wanting love from their parents, this one is like a toxic partner helplessly demanding love for their own self-gratification, aware of hurting everyone and themselves in the process. It's very adult and fits Nerissa's voice very well.

Came back after watching Nerissa's short about how she writes English lyrics. You really do have a knack for creating incredibly good lyrics that hold the same message as the original AND having it fit so well with the original song structure, as you demonstrated with the chorus in the short and how "Give ME your LOVE" lines up with "a-I-shi-TE" in the original. I recall when me and a friend were watching your debut live together and I told him "There's no way, she's doing Aishite, Aishite, Aishite? AS HER DEBUT COVER? That's insane" but lo and behold, you absolutely knocked it out of the park, and continue to do so. Truly the Demon of Sound 🎼

I'm very impressed with Nerissa's localization! There's sooo much here that makes it work so well and I need to put some notes down somewhere First of all, the syllable count in each line matches along the rhythm just fine, but the achievement of making meter and phrasing match to the melody's more than divine! Notice, when reading the four lines I'm leaving, how you could turn them into song? See, you can find stresses in every sentence; poetry and music: the same all along! I just wanna appreciate how much this reads like old, traditional poetry, but that works really well for this song since the original Japanese lines are long enough to allow it, and rhythmic pattern of stressed, unstressed, and combined syllables and accentuates the beat in the song:(assuming the song is in 6/8, 230BPM ) I- *placed* in the *top* of my *class,* there’s- *no* one *left* for- *me* to sur-*pass* *Don’t* I look *cute* in this *dress?* I- *rea*-lly, -*-rea-*--lly, -*-must-*- con-*fess* It’s- *tight*-ening *‘round* my *neck!* (IMO, a good alternative line for "tightening 'round my neck!" could be "choking me to death!", to match the phenome "oʊ" (oh) with its other instances on the first beat of every other line(no, don't, choke), and because "death", sounds closer to "dress", and "confess". "death" also has a particularly strong meaning that matches the dramatic build-up before the Chorus) Speaking of the chorus, Its pretty fascinating how the open vowels (i.e. "ʌ"(uh), "ɒ"(aw) ) land on beat 2, 3, 4 and the last triplet of the measure (assuming the song is in 4/4, 77BPM), Give me your *love* *All* of your *love* Give me your *love* *All* you can *con* - jure *up* Assonance written in this way is especially important for music; since open vowels bring out the most resonance, It can be used to emphasize certain notes and add distinct rhythm patterns. Then, on the second stanza, the phenomes on the down beats in the the third and fourth measure of the stanza (line 3) pleasantly climb up the Scale of Vowels as the melody descends the-what i notice to be a very "blues"-scale, making each new note constant in in tone: its subtle, probably only exists in my head, but it makes for a more confluent phrase The line "Oh everyone come 'round and gawk at perfection!" is definitely my favorite! Ending the stanza with the word "perfection" works so well to accentuate the context and theme of the lyrics: it has such a strong, manic connotation. Its so good at establishing an overwhelming emphasis on the obsessive, _narcissistic_, _*__psychopathic_* state of this character. I could go on about the instrumental part too, the music theory behind this is absolutely top tier but I do NOT have that kind of time, or any sleep truely inspiring, maybe I should try writing/ localizing lyrics, could be a great opportunity there!

Love love love this analysis! Was fun for me to read, so thanks for taking the time to write it out! I actually thought of "choking me to death" as an option, as well! The reason I didn't go with it is because tightening sounds less odd with a pause between it since it goes tigh-ting vs cho-cking. It transitions better and sounds less awkward when sung due to the pause! Glad to see someone passionate about poetry and lyrical flow 🖤

I think if the lyrics were supposed to follow the dtd,dtd pattern, wouldn't the syllables in "tightening" and "around" not be conjoined? *tight* -en-ing *a* -round my *neck!* it sounds pretty fluid to me, and even matches to the 2nd pre-chorus too! Though, that comes with the big draw back that there would be less rhythmic progression to surprise the listener. I understand why it's written the way it is, it's because in the original song, the lyrics follow the pattern dtd,dtt due to frequent use of the 『ねえ、ねえ！』（hey, hey!） phrase: いー *い* せい *せ* きで *しょ？*　ねー (dactyl) *え、*　ね *え、*　いー (trochee) *い* こで *しょ？* (dactyl) *か* わい *い* こで *しょ？*　ねー (dactyl) *え、* ね *え、*　い *こ、*　で *しょ*　くー (trochee) *る、*　し *い*　ね *え！* (trochee) I appreciate that she was as faithful as possible to the original rhythm and made it work as well as it does, but honestly... You guys are so much more knowledgeable in music than me I'm only just a higher music student right now.I can't really provide explanations as detailed and amazing as the ones you guys have written above, but I can't shut up about this. This cover remained so loyal to the original song(I really appreciate that), the phrasing and emphasis on certain words is spot on, I liked the arrangement, and my choir friends told me her falsetto is super good.(I don't know if they were overreacting though) We never heard a vtuber with a voice as good as hers, except maybe Enna, and hearing this cover made us so high and excited for what's to come. I really enjoyed reading the reviews you guys above made!!You got all technical and I was barely keeping up, but I liked that I learned a lot from what you guys wrote.Thanks!! ❤

@@Zenik16 What are you talking about? How does praising this cover do a disservice to her? I wasn't necessarily saying it's the greatest of all time, tho I've yet to hear one outdo it. I mainly meant I haven't heard a song from her that outdoes this one. She set a high bar for herself. It's partly the fact her interpretation was the first time I've heard this song, but it's all I hear when I listen to covers. And I've listened to plenty of the ones you mentioned. I hadn't heard of Ado, but I listened to it and I don't think it's even close. That just personal preference tho.

The other interpretation is that a girl demands love because of the cursed collar she wears and as she grows older the curse gets stronger making it so that no matter how much love she receives it leaves her unsatisfied.

The first verse of this song states one specific thing about the collar: *' It wrapped itself tightly, daily and nightly, only with praise, would it loosen its hold.'* If she were to receive love from anyone at any point, the collar would loosen until it was broken. But keep in mind, the collar has a curse on it that tightens it around the neck of the person who is wearing it as long as they do not receive positive praise at any point in their life, or in this case, love. (That's just my interpretation of this song. No need to judge me.)
