Absolutely loved that unedited section of the race finish. That is honestly what running is all about! Must be a real buzz for you to have so many people giving you props for the channel too. Class! Congrats on 20k… I think I’ve been here since 3k maybe?? You hooked me in with the ‘improve your 5k’ video and I’ve been loving the content ever since! Keep it up mate 👍🏼👍🏼

🥳 on 20k subscribers Ben. The sight of thousands of runners approaching the first hill was spectacular. Enjoyed seeing this VLOG and spotting Cam, Conor and a few local club runner vests in the mix.

Was there in the senior race. Quite a bit back tho, on the recovery from covid so just went to enjoy the day. And what a day it was!! Congrats on 20k!

Love it. National XC at Parliament Hill is the best racing experience. Last ran it in 2018 and your video brought back the memories of the start/stampede, hills and mud. Mahamed Mahamed, Emile Cairess and Alex Yee are different gravy.

Awesome job, looked a wee bit muddier than scottish nationals (on the same day)! Just out of interest have you considered getting XC specific spikes? I got them after breaking a set of track spikes at xc and find they tear up your calves less.

Thanks Colin! Yes I need to invest as these spikes just can’t handle conditions like this. Two spikes have cracked through the spike plate so have learnt my lesson :)

Mud on a cross country course in February! Gosh, who would have thought it? It's what the sport is all about, running in whatever conditions are thrown at you. If you don't want the possibility of running in mud stick to road races!

Well done, the atmosphere seemed amazing. Miss cross country races! How does the start line work on the larger scale events? Is it a free for all on the positions or do the faster runners get priority at the front?

Not sure about the senior men but for me (u13) it was a free for all. Only about 500 runners though so we were only 3 deep.

@@joefinch7192 many years ago when I ran at county trials, it was also a free for all but again just s couple of hundred. Can't be fair to be starting at the back of that pack if you're one of the faster runners on paper.

each club has a pen allocation at national xc - usually get 1-3 on the front (if you want to be there) on size of the club

really messed it up with this course didnt bring 15's and 12's really didnt cut it the only way I was able to make ground up was to kick all the drier sections which got very hard very quickly. Good effort on your part :D
